CSU Tennis Falls to Utah, 6-1

Fort Collins, Colo.-The Colorado State women's tennis team lost their fourth consecutive conference match today. They fell to Utah by a final score of 6-1, and drop to 0-4 in conference.
In doubles play, Utah earned the team point, with the Rams only winning at the No. 1 position. At No. 1 singles, Kirchem/Tyler defeated Reveche/Kwok, 8-3, and picked up their ninth doubles victory in dual play. At No. 2, Neal/Strasburger fell to Ferris/Walsh, 8-3. At the No. 3 position, Stople/Pohjalainen were beaten by Bourdages/Maughan, 8-2; the pair moves to 5-3 in 2007.
In singles play, the Rams earned one of six possible team points, despite several close matches. At No. 1, Emily Kirchem fell to Elizabeth Ferris, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3; Kirchem is now 4-5 in dual singles play. At No. 2 singles, Lauren Strasburger was defeated by Emily Kwok, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Laura Neal dropped her match to Leigh Walsh, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. At the No. 4 position, Hilary Tyler picked up the only Rams' team point, earning a win over Cheyenne Reveche, 7-5, 6-3; Tyler moves to 7-5 in 2007. At No. 5 singles, Anette Pohjalainen lost to Andrea Maughan, 6-3, 6-2. At the No. 6 position, Greer Satherlie was defeated by Karine Bourdages, 6-3, 6-0.
"Utah came out and played well, they jumped on us," head coach Jon Messick commented. "Emily and Laura battled back, but couldn't pull through."
The Rams return to the court Sunday, April 1st, when they face Air Force at Rolland Moore Park in Fort Collins, Colo. The match is schedule to begin at 2pm MST.
The match times for neutral matches to be held on Saturday, March 30th, have changed to the following:
BYU/Wyoming at 1pm & Utah/Air Force at 2pm
