The Colorado State women's tennis team fell to the Cowgirls of Wyoming today by a final score of 5-2. The Rams move to 7-9 (1-5 MWC) in 2007.
In doubles play, the Rams took the point, winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. At No. 1 doubles, Kirchem/Tyler defeated House/Rowinski, 8-2, picking up their fifth consecutive win at the position; the pair improves to 17-2 overall. At No. 2, Pohjalainen/Strasburger advanced to 2-0 on the season with their win over Brown/Lazar, 8-5. At No. 3 doubles, Satherlie/Stople fell to Nelson/Summerfield, 8-4.
In singles play, the Rams could only pick up a point at the No. 3 position, but took three matches to three sets. At No. 1 singles, Emily Kirchem fell to Sarah Summerfield, 6-3, 6-4; she moves to 13-10 overall. At No. 2, Lauren Strasburger was beaten by Karolina Rowinski, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Hilary Tyler picked up the Rams' only singles victory with her win over Corina Lazar, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. This was Tyler's fourth straight win; she advances to 15-9 on the season. At No. 4 singles, Anette Pohjalainen fell to Michelle Brown in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 5, Greer Satherlie dropped her match to Andrea House, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 6 singles, Kirsten Stople fell to Jamie Nelson, 7-6, 6-4.
The Rams return to the court Thursday, April 12th, when they take on New Mexico at 4:00 pm MST in Albuquerque, N.M..
