Colorado State University on Thursday named Ben Chulick director of marketing. Paul Kowalczyk, Director of Athletics, made the announcement.

"We are excited to have Ben joining our staff," Kowalczyk said. "He brings a wealth of experience and expertise that we feel will be a great asset to our entire department."

Chulick, who will begin work later this month, joins the Rams from the 2006-07 Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. In three and-a-half years as the marketing manager for the Cavs and Quicken Loans Arena, he was responsible for all promotional items, assisted with marketing goals and branding initiatives, and managed game-night activities. He also wrote copy for radio, television, Web site and in-game advertisements.

Prior to his time in Cleveland, Chulick worked in the Mountain West Conference, serving more than five years years in the marketing department at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. There, he assisted in all aspects of the Rebels' advertising, promotions and game-entertainment efforts, specifically with football and men's basketball. He also coordinated UNLV's community relations programs.

A 1999 graduate of Michigan State University, Chulick launched his career as a manager of the MSU Student Alumni Foundation's spirit section for Spartan Basketball, the Izzone. A Detroit native, he was raised in Las Vegas.

He and his wife, Marenna, are expecting their first child this winter.

Chulick replaces Ben Lorenzen, who left in July to work with fellow Colorado State graduate Brent Seebohm at the University of Arizona.
