COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State senior Sam Martin earned her first Mountain West Player of the Week honor on Monday, after posting double-figure scoring efforts in wins over Loyola Marymount and Denver last week.

Martin, a Parker, Colo., native, led the Rams to victory with a season-high 20 points on Thursday night at Moby Arena against the LMU Lions. She added five rebounds, four assists and CSU's only block en route to the 70-68 victory.

She then continued with her sixth double-digit performance of the year on Sunday afternoon against the Denver Pioneers, adding 14 points to the final score of 86-78. The forward registered four rebounds for the Rams, all on the offensive glass, contributing to 16 second-chance points.

Over the course of the week, Martin shot an average of .565 percent from the field and she did not miss a single free throw attempt (8-8). The senior averaged 30.5 minutes of play, including an outstanding 37 minutes against the Lions.

The award is the first for anyone in the program since Kim Mestdagh last won it during the 2011-12 season on Feb. 13.

Martin will play in the 100th game of her career on Saturday at Moby Arena in an afternoon matchup vs. South Dakota Mines. Tipoff between the Rams and the Hardrockers is slated for 1 p.m. MT.
