COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State women's basketball player Gritt Ryder has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week following her game-changing performance on Sunday afternoon.
After missing Tuesday's game vs. Colorado School of Mines due to a foot injury, Ryder came in off the bench during Sunday's game vs. Illinois State. She led the team to erase what was an 11-point deficit en route to a 70-49 win over the Redbirds.
The Denmark native scored a game-high 22 points, burying a career-high six three-pointers. Ryder shot .750 from beyond the arc.
The victory boosted the Rams (2-1) into a tie for second place in the conference standings with Boise State and Fresno State. CSU was one of three schools to finish the week blemish free, joining Wyoming and Utah State.
This is Ryder's first career weekly award. She is the first Ram to earn the honor since Sam Martin on Dec. 9, 2013.
Rams Sweep Weekly Awards
Ryder's player of the week accolade marks the fourth Mountain West award for Colorado State Monday. The Rams swept the prize in the four major sports after a phenomenal week in which the teams finished with a combined 7-0 record.
It was just the third time in Mountain West history that all four sports received the nod in the same week. The last school to post all four weekly awards was Utah on Nov. 24, 2008.
- Dee Hart's six-touchdown performance in a 58-20 rout over New Mexico earned him a win for football.
- Scoring 38 points, while shooting 6-of-9 from beyond the arc for the week vs. Georgia State and Mercer, Daniel Bejarano captured the win for men's basketball.
- Deedra Foss was honored for volleyball for surpassing her season averages in assists, blocks and kills in victories over San José State and Nevada.
