FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's golf team opened the 2014-15 season at home in the annual Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Monday morning. Behind a strong effort from freshman Lisa Unterganschnigg, the Rams overcame a slow start to complete day one in 10th-place at Ptarmigan Country Club.

As a team, the Rams carded a 36-hole total of 602 (+26), which is five strokes better than the teams two-round performance in this tournament in 2013. Last year the Rams concluded their home event in eighth-place after shooting 911.

In her first appearance for CSU, Unterganschnigg, a native of Zell am See, Austria, leads the Rams with a 4-over 148 after 36 holes. The freshman bounced back from a first round 74 (+4) to shoot even-par in the second round, and heads into the final day tied for 20th. She recorded 28 pars through the first 36 holes, which ties for the tournament lead with UNLV's Vivian Hsuan Chen and Kennesaw State's Laura Estefenn.

Unterganschnigg finds herself on pace for a top-20 finish in her first collegiate event.

Just behind the Austrian native is Rams senior Jessa LaBarbera, who recorded a 6-over 150 on Monday. LaBarbera, who is competing in her 12th consecutive tournament for CSU, had a team-high six birdies through the first 36 holes.

The only other newcomer that is in the CSU lineup this week is Allie Andersen, who recorded a one-over 73 in her first collegiate round. Andersen, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, registered a 54-hole total of 151 (+7).

Rounding out the Rams lineup was sophomore Elisabeth Rau (+11) and redshirt-junior Mikayla Tatman (+12).

Mountain West foe San Diego State paces the field with a 36-hole total of 577 (+1), and find themselves nine strokes ahead of Colorado (586). The Aztecs also control the individual leaderboard with two golfers tied for first sitting at five-under.

The final round begins Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. MT. The Rams are grouped with California and Idaho for the final 18 holes.
