HEAD COACH Ryun Williams
(opening statement)
"That was a thing of beauty. Anytime you can put a W in that column it looks a lot better than that other thing. Defensively exceptional, really for 40 minutes, New Mexico scored 48 points in the second half against Fresno State. Our principles were really locked in for 40 minutes and they needed to be because it wasn't very pretty offensively."
(on poor offensive performance)
"Poor execution, poor decision making, and I don't know why we were so poor offensively. There were a lot of good shots out there that we just didn't make it. Twenty turnovers tonight is not the way we should be playing. With that being said the kids still found enough energy and executed enough at the right time to get the win. They tied it up in the second half with 4 minutes to go and Ellen's (Nystrom) and-1 was crucial out of that timeout, and Victoria Wells had a really good drive and scored. There weren't really many good offensive plays but there were some timely ones."
(on Arias' play)
"Fifteen points. When she catches deep, she is a load, she has a pretty good feel around the basket and she is a good foul shooter. She had a really nice game. Ellen really got herself under control in the second half and did some good things. The biggest thing is that we rebounded better tonight and anytime you can beat a tough New Mexico team while not playing our best offensively that's saying something."
(on the slow start)
"We had some kids not ready to play tonight and you could tell it almost got us."
(on Ryder and Newton)
"It's huge. Would the Denver Broncos score that many points without Peyton Manning? She makes everybody on that court better and she is our key. They are both really good playmakers and until we get them back we are pieced together so every game is something different for us offensively. And to that I give our kids credit; they adjust every game quite well."

(overview)
"I don't know what to say about the game. Coach after the game said, "Well, it was a win." And a win is always good, but we've been talking about how we have to step it up. We have a target on our back and we have to take care of it and show that we should have a target."
"It was a really important game and of course it was an important game because we have a win, but I feel like we need it as a team."
"It's about energy, and right now it's like we have a cup, and the cup needs to be filled up, and right now it's pretty good."
"It was a weird win, but it was a win."
(on defense)
"It was 15-17 (at the half), and we were like, "Shoot, we only have 15, but they only have 17."
(on Arias' performance)
It was good. Alana's the only really post player that we have. It was nice just to be able to pass it in there.
(on defense)
"I think maybe we didn't execute our plays very well; we didn't score much. They didn't score much either."
"I think both teams were playing good defense and that's why the score was low."
"I think the key of our victory was our team defense. We just felt together on defense."
