FORT COLLINS, Colo.— Colorado State Deputy Director of Athletics John Morris announced the addition of Ben Lorenzen as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sales, Marketing and Communications. Lorenzen has spent the past two years as General Manager of Rams Sports Properties for Learfield Sports.

In his new role Lorenzen is responsible for managing the external operations for the athletic department in the areas of sales, marketing and external communication. His focus centers on generating revenue through ticket sales, marketing, corporate sponsorships, promotions, licensing and multi-media rights. In addition, Lorenzen oversees all aspects of the department's external communication endeavors, including branding, media relations, online and social/digital media, while managing the University's relationships with external sports marketing partners.

Since July2012, Lorenzen’s position with Learfield Sports focused on extending the affinity of the Rams’ brand to businesses and corporations to align with the Colorado State fan base. He guided Rams Sports Properties in its management of all aspects of the rights relationship, providing corporate partners both traditional and new media opportunities with the Rams to bolster their own brand and garner maximum exposure.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Ben back to the Rams Athletics family in this role,” Morris said.  “As a proud CSU alum and a nationally recognized leader in his field, Ben will add tremendous value to our senior management team and our entire department.  With his extensive experience here at CSU and with several of the nation’s top collegiate sports marketing firms, I am confident Ben will accomplish great things as the new leader of our sales, marketing and external communications teams.”

Lorenzen and his Rams Sports Properties team provided those opportunities through the sale of inventory that included venue signage; event sponsorships and promotion; corporate hospitality; television; digital engagement and visibility via the official athletics website; and radio game broadcasts and coaches’ shows on the Colorado State Sports Network.

Prior to his return to Fort Collins, Lorenzen spent five years in a similar capacity with the University of Arizona’s sports marketing partner, IMG College. Under his management, Arizona generated the highest sponsorship revenue in the Pac-12.

A 2001 Colorado State graduate, Lorenzen began his career in the sports industry at CSU in 1998 and served one year at Wichita State (2001-02) upon graduation. Lorenzen was hired back by the Rams in 2002, eventually serving as director of marketing and sales before leaving for Arizona.

Lorenzen is a graduate of Arvada (Colo.) West High School. He and his wife Chrissy, also a CSU graduate, have two children, Gianna (2) and Jaxon (2 months).
