FULLERTON, Calif. - The Colorado State women's tennis team was defeated 6-1 by Cal State-Fullerton Wednesday afternoon in its second game of the 2015 spring break road trip. The Rams' (4-7) loss halted a two-match winning streak, and prevented CSU's from winning consecutive road matches for the first time this season.

CSU was only able to secure one point in singles play when No. 3 singles player Laia Hernandez Soler was able to defeat her opponent (7-5, 6-2) in straight sets.

"Laia played very well today," said head coach Jon Messick. "She played solid. She lost the second set but managed to win the tiebreak, and fight back in the second set."

Rams seniors Natalie Heffron and Adriana Wojakowska were unable to defeat their opponents. Heffron, the No. 1 singles player, was defeated (6-2, 6-4), while Wojakowska, competing at the No. 2 singles spot, was unable to win the second set (6-2, 6-4) dropping the match. Colorado States' No. 4 Maddie Buxton was defeated in straight sets (6-1, 6-3), No. 5 Madison Porter was defeated (6-1, 6-0), and No. 6 singles player Celine Voss was unable to clinch victory (6-2, 7-6) after a close second set.

In doubles play the Rams were led by the No. 1 pair of Heffron/Wojakowska, who defeated the Titans No. 1 duo (7-5). Colorado State was unable to win another doubles match and lost the doubles point. The Rams No. 2 pair Porter/Hernandez-Soler was defeated (6-1), while the No. 3 pair Voss/Buxton lost (6-4) in a close match.

"When you play the No. 1 doubles you are playing against the best teams, and Natalie and Adriana are beating good teams which is hard to do," Messick said. "They really turned around today's match. They were down 4-1 and fought back to get the victory. After changing tactics they were successful and it showed their hard work."

Colorado State will stay in California to continue the road trip. They will face-off against Towson tomorrow at 2 p.m., and will finish the road trip at Cal State-Los Angeles on March 21 at 12 p.m. MT.
