BOISE, Idaho -- Colorado State women's tennis team fell to the Boise State Broncos Friday afternoon, 6-1. The Rams (6-8) have lost both Mountain West Conference matches they have participated in this season.

"I think that tennis scoring system does not reflect todays results," said Colorado State head coach Jon Messick. "We played a close match and when you, as a team, have the ability to force three sets in four singles matches, it means you are competing. In doubles play, we had a chance to grab the No. 1 matchup but it did not finish, but I think that shows how well we played and the effort the team gave today."

The Rams in doubles play were unable to wrap-up the doubles point as they were defeated in the No. 2 and No. 3 matchups. The Rams No. 2 duo of Aina Hernandez Soler/Madison Porter were defeated (6-2), while the No. 3 pair of Maddie Buxton/Laia Hernandez Soler was defeated, 6-2.

No. 1 pair of Natalie Heffron/Adriana Wojakowska did not finish due to the doubles point being clinched.

In singles play, Colorado State won the No. 5 singles matchup, when Buxton defeated her opponent in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (6)).

"Maddie fought hard today. She did her job today and it showed in her victory and overall in her performance" Messick said.

The Rams dropped matches at the No. 1 where Heffron was defeated (6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-2). At the No. 2 Wojakowska was unable to secure victory (6-1, 6-0), and at No. 3 Aina Hernandez Soler was defeated (6-4, 6-4) in straight sets. At No. 4 Laia Hernandez Soler was defeated (6-0, 1-6, 6-2), and at No. 6 Madison Porter was beat (6-0, 2-6, 7-5) in three sets.

Colorado State has Saturday off, before they face off in a conference matchup vs. Utah State on Sunday, March 29. The matchup in Logan is set to begin at 11 a.m.
