Tennis Recap: Rams falter during Border War contest

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- The Colorado State women's team dropped their second in a row after falling to the Wyoming 4-0 Saturday afternoon. The Rams (7-14), complete Mountain West action and drop to 1-5 in the conference.
Colorado State was unable to secure the doubles point and lost three singles matches which awarded the match to Wyoming.
Rams seniors Natalie Heffron/Adriana Wojakowska at the No. 1 doubles match were defeated 6-2, while the No. 2 pair of Maddie Buxton/Madison Porter were defeated 6-0. The No. 3 match did not finish (4-2) because Wyoming had secured the doubles point.
"Wyoming has a different style of play" said Colorado State head tennis coach Jon Messick. "We weren't able to get into a rhythm and it was a difficult task for us. Celine was playing a close match when we stopped, and she has continued to play well for us, but overall it was a tough task."
The Rams fell at the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles matches in straight sets. Colorado State No. 3 singles player Laia Hernandez Soler was defeated (6-1, 6-1), Aina Hernandez Soler was unable to secure victory at No. 4 (6-2, 6-3), and at No. 5 CSU's Maddie Buxton was defeated (6-1, 6-1) respectfully.
At No. 6 singles matchup Celine Voss had split sets with her opponent (4-6, 6-3) but the match did not finish.
Colorado State hosts South Dakota Sunday morning for the last regular season match of the year. The Rams, will honor the seniors prior to the match starting at 8 a.m. (MT).
