Recap: Prendergast posts 1st-ever top-5 finish

TUCSON, Ariz. - Colorado State freshman golfer Katrina Prendergast carded her highest-ever finish on Saturday, tying for fifth place out of 85 participants at the MountainView Collegiate. CSU finished in ninth place out of the 15-team field, shooting a 24-over 888, including a 10-over 298 during Round 3 on Saturday.
Prendergast shot an even-par-72 during Round 3, in addition to a school-record-tying 67 during Round 1. She closed the tournament with a 2-under 214 for the weekend, tied for the 11th-best performance in CSU history and the second-best of her young career. She finished one stroke behind Georgia's Bailey Tardy, ranked 27th in the nation by GolfStat.
Sophomore Allie Andersen also carded a par-72 on Saturday, improving by 15 places to finish with a 10-over 226. Senior Mikayla Tatman also moved up, tallying a 3-over 75 to finish with a 13-over 229. Andersen and Prendergast each posted eagles on the weekend, making CSU one of two teams to have multiple eagles in the tournament. The Rams had 36 birdies, tied for the fourth-most.
No. 5 Georgia won the tournament, carding a 5-under 859. No. 16 Iowa State finished in second with a 2-over 866, followed by No. 45 Purdue (10-over 874), No. 22 Missouri (11-over 875), New Mexico State (13-over 877), UTSA (14-over 878), No. 42 Ohio State (16-over 880), San Jose State (23-over 887), CSU (24-over 888), Texas State (25-over 889), Kansas State (28-over 892), Minnesota (30-over 894), No. 46 Middle Tennessee (31-over 895), Kennesaw State (43-over 907) and Wyoming (51-over 915).
The Rams close the regular season April 8-9 in Lubbock, Texas, for the Red Raider Invitational, before gearing up for the 2016 Mountain West Championships.
