Caeley Lordemann and Janelle Stone score for the Rams on Friday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Colorado State women's soccer team fell to the New Mexico Lobos, 4-2, in a Friday afternoon Mountain West contest from the UNM Soccer Complex.

Colorado State (4-8-5, 2-4-3 MW) goals were scored by Caeley Lordemann in the 22nd minute and by Janelle Stone in the 84th minute. The Rams were with New Mexico (11-6-0, 6-3-0 MW) at halftime, but the Lobos scored in the 72nd and added two more goals within the next seven minutes to put a stranglehold on the match.

UNM leading scorer Claire Lynch scored the first goal in the match's 22nd minute on a header from inside CSU's 18-yard box. The long cross, which came from just inside the Rams half of the field, found the head of Lynch, who pushed it to the lower left of the net. However, Lordemann tied the match at one goal each just one minute later, as she tapped in the ball from just outside the goal area on corner kick service by Makenzi Taylor.

The Rams remained tied with New Mexico until the Lobos broke the tie in the 72nd minute. On a free-kick opportunity about one yard left of the 18-yard box, Lynch fired the ball to the upper left of the net past an extended Hunter Peifer. UNM's Aspen Headrick added another tally on a deflection less than three minutes later, and the Lobos' Jessica Nelson extended that lead to 4-1 with a goal in the 79th minute.

The Rams scored the final goal of the match on a counterattack in the 84th minute. On a feed from Emma Shinsky, Stone was able to sneak down into the box and beat the keeper for her first goal of the year and the third of her career.

Each of Lordemann and Stone finished the match with two shots on goal, while Peifer finished the match with four saves. Halley Havlicek and Beth Plentl played all 90 minutes.

IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Bill Hempen
"We never gave in. Even when we were down 4-1, we didn't give in. We were pushing forwards and even thought we could get our third goal. It was just a really challenging soccer match in challenging conditions against a team that was able to play their style today."

NOTES
- Emma Shinsky's assist on Friday was the first of her collegiate career.
- Caeley Lordemann is the third different Ram to score three goals this season. She joins Karli Eheart and Ally Murphy-Pauletto.
