Colorado State Finishes Fall Schedule at UC Irvine Invitational

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The CSU women's golf team hits the road for the final golf tournament of the fall season at the UC Irvine Invitational in Irvine Calif. Oct. 30-31 at the Santa Ana Country Club. Round one will be played on Santa Ana CC Course 1 and has a yardage of 6129, and round two will be played on Santa Ana CC Course 2 and has a yardage of 6072. Both courses are a par 72.
 
PARTICIPANTS
The 36-hole contest will consist of 13 teams, which include: CSU Fullerton, Colorado State, Fresno State, Idaho, Long Beach State, Long Beach State as "B" team, Northern Illinois, San Diego State, San Francisco, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Irvine as "B" team, and UC Riverside.

RECAP OF SEASON THUS FAR
At the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, the Rams tied for third with an eight-over par 872. Junior Katrina Prendergast carded a Colorado State record-low 65 in the third round of the weekend. Ellen Secor finished in fifth place with a three-under par 213, Haley Greb tied for 13th (219), Fiona Hebbel tied for 67th and Jessica Sloot tied for 69th.

In Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, the Rams finished in 10th place with a 27-over par 300. Katrina Prendergast tied for 16th with a one-over par 214, Ellen Secor tied for 18th (215), Haley Greb tied for 51st (223), Brook Nolte tied for 68th (227) and Fiona Hebbel tied for 83rd (236).

In Sammamish, Wash., the Rams finished in 11th place with a 70-over par 934 after carding a 311-317-306 over the two day invite. Ellen Secor tied for 13th with an eight-over par 224, Katrina Prendergast tied for 43rd with a 21-over par 237, Brook Nolte tied for 45th (238), Haley Greb finished in 53rd (244), and Jessica Sloot tied for 54th (246).

In Las Vegas, Nev., the Rams finished in 11th place with a 13-over par 301. Karina Prendergast led the Rams tied for 26th overall with a three-over par 219 after carding a three-over par 75 on the final day. Haley Greb tied for 33rd with a five-over par 221, Ellen Secor tied for 59th (226), Brooke Nolte tied for 63rd (227), and Fiona Hebbel tied for 82nd (234).

TWO RAMS QUALIFY FOR U.S. WOMEN'S AMATEUR… AGAIN
For the second consecutive year, teammates Katrina Prendergast and Ellen Secor qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship. A year after earning medalists honors at the Ranch CC, Prendergast and Secor repeated in that role, this time by shooting a best-ball six-under par 66 on Oct. 3 at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster, Colo. The 2018 U.S. Women's Four-Ball will be held April 28-May 2 at El Caballero CC in Tarzana, Calif. It will be the third straight trip to the national Women's Four-Ball for Secor and second for Prendergast.
 
THOSE WHO ARE RETURNING
Annie Young is in her fifth year as head coach for the Rams. Other returners include junior Katrina Prendergast, and sophomores Ellen Secor and Jessica Sloot.
 
NEW FACES
The Rams have added three new faces to the roster:
Haley Greb - A freshman from Pendleton, Ore., who competed on the varsity golf team all four years at Pendleton High School. In her senior season, she won the State Championship.
Fiona Hebbel - A native of Levekusen, Germany, Hebbel transferred from King University in Tenn., and helped King University win their first Conference Carolinas title and finished 11th at the Conference Carolinas Championship with a stork total of 154, shooting 79-75. She led King University with a stroke average of 77.56.
Brooke Nolte - A transfer from Bowling Green State and a Melissa, Texas native, Nolte qualified as the number one player as a freshman. She was the only player on the team to finish in the top two in all events on the team.
 
NEW ASSISTANT COACH
The Rams welcome Tommy Baker as the new assistant coach prior to the 2017-18 season. Baker previously coached the women's team at Saint Leo University in Florida. The Lions qualified for the NCAA South Super Regional in each of his four season as head coach. He set multiple school records including: lowest team round- 279 (-9), lowest team 36 holes – 571 (-5) and lowest individual round -66. Baker earned his bachelor degree in exercise and sport science from UNC- Pembroke in 2006 and his maters in physical education with a concentration in sports administration in 2008.
 
WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE RAMS?
The Rams will get some time off before starting the spring season on the road Feb 12-13, when they head to Long Beach, Calif. to play in the Gold Rush.
