COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado State volleyball team kept its winning streak alive as it swept past Air Force on Thursday night. The Rams have now beat the Falcons in the last 50 matches, including earning a sweep in the last five. The sweep also gave the Rams their 13th sweep of the season and eighth in the Mountain West.
The Rams used a nine-point scoring run in the first set to lead 11-4 and didn't look back, cruising to a 25-14 first-set win. CSU hit .217 in the frame and held Air Force to a .000 hitting mark. Paulina Hougaard-Jensen floored five kills and was perfect in hitting. Colorado State also used four service aces in the set.
Colorado State started the second set with the same momentum, taking a 13-5 lead, but Air Force would make things tighter. The Falcons chipped away at the Rams lead and cut it to two at 18-16 as CSU took a timeout. Following the quick break, the Rams increased its lead to four on their way to take a 2-0 match with a 25-21 second-set score.
In the final set of the night, both teams battled as there were 11 tie scores and five lead changes. Air Force led the majority of the set, but Colorado State tied the frame at 18-18. From there, there were nine tie scores – at each point – and CSU grabbed five match-points along the way before ending the match with a block.

Head Coach Tom Hilbert on the match…
"We had a lot of different phases to this match and we played really cleanly and serviced the ball tough early. We forced Air Force into a high-error environment and blocked really well. In the second set Air Force woke up and played better. But the third set, I thought Air Force was playing as well as they can play and we hung with them the entire time in a competitive set. We won it in the end, which what more can you ask from your players – it was a stressful situation, but we weren't playing poorly, Air Force was just playing well.
STAT OF THE DAY
Paulina Hougaard-Jensen floored 14 kills (14-0-18) in the sweep, while hitting .778 and putting up five blocks to lead Colorado State.
