Rams open 2018-19 season with 7 p.m. MT game against Eastern New Mexico on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from Moby Arena

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Sophomore guard Lore Devos and senior forward Tatum Neubert registered double-doubles to headline individual efforts from the Colorado State women's basketball team as the Rams defeated the Colorado Christian Cougars, 73-60, in exhibition action on Friday night from Moby Arena.

Four Rams finished Friday's exhibition with the Cougars with double-digit points. Devos tallied her double-double with a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Neubert paced the Rams with 14 boards and scored 16 points. Junior guard Mollie Mounsey shot 5-for-7 from the floor and 4-for-5 from three-point range en route to a 14-point outing. Sophomore guard Grace Colaivalu rounded out the Rams' top performers on Friday with an 11-point, six-rebound effort.

Colorado State trailed at the conclusion of the first quarter, but used a dominant second quarter to take control of the game. After pulling CSU within 18-14 on a three-pointer to close the first quarter, Mounsey opened the second quarter with another to draw the Rams within one of the Cougars. The Rams scored 17 of the next 20 points after that basket to make it 34-21, powered by eight points on a pair of threes and a layup from sophomore forward Lena Svanholm.

The lead for the Rams remained about the same until the beginning of the fourth quarter, when the Rams took a 61-44 advantage on Neubert's only three of the night. The Cougars whittled the Rams' lead to 10 within the last three minutes of Friday's matchup, but Colaivalu, Devos and Neubert all scored on layups down the stretch to reestablish the 13-point edge and seal the 73-60 victory.

IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Ryun Williams
"Always good to get a win. Probably played a little tired out of the gate. We came out in that zone thinking that maybe that we could buy some time, but they did a lot of good things against us. They came out with a lot of energy and kind of ran it at us, and it took us a while to respond, but I think we've had some really good situations in both these games. We faced a little adversity tonight, and had some kids step up and make some plays. Two good exhibition games. Tough playing back-to-back with kind of our limited depth, and it's good to play ourselves into shape."

NOTES
  • Colorado State played two exhibition games in a single season for the second time during the now-seven-season Ryun Williams era. The Rams also played two exhibitions prior to the 2013-14 season.
  • Junior guard Mollie Mounsey paced the Rams in scoring over the two exhibition matches, averaging 21 points per game.
  • Mounsey finished the two exhibitions 10-for-14 from beyond the three-point arc (.714).
  • Senior forward Tatum Neubert finished exhibition play with a double-double average, scoring 13.5 points per game with 10 rebounds per game.
