Rams go 2-1 in weekend in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – The Colorado State tennis squad finished its weekend in Las Vegas with a 4-0 loss at UNLV on Sunday.
CSU (4-4, 0-1 MW) went 2-1 in three matches in Las Vegas, with a pair of wins on Saturday against UC Riverside and Youngstown State. UNLV (6-3, 1-0 MW) went a perfect 3-0 on its home court over the weekend.
Sunday's match versus UNLV was CSU's first against a Mountain West opponent this season, and provided a tough learning opportunity for the Rams to cap off what was otherwise a successful two days in Sin City.
"Whenever you win more than you lose over a weekend, it's a good thing," CSU head coach Jarod Camerota said. "UNLV showed us what we need to work on to get ready for our divisional opponents in conference and for the conference tournament."
The Rebels took the opening doubles point with victories on courts No. 1 & 3. They then took singles victories at No. 1, 4 and 6 to seal the 4-0 match win.
The Rams will return to action the weekend of Feb. 24-25 with matches against Western Illinois and Drake in Des Moines, Iowa. CSU's first home match of the spring will be March 3 versus Omaha.
