Rams to head to Des Moines for pair of matches this weekend

CSU to face Western Illinois, Drake this weekend
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State tennis team will play Western Illinois and Drake this weekend at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
CSU (4-4, 0-1 MW) has not played since going 2-1 in Las Vegas on Feb. 10-11. The rest and practice was good for the Rams, but the players are anxious to get back onto the court for matches.
"I think it was nice having a weekend off to rest and to get two full weeks of practice between matches," CSU head coach Jarod Camerota said. "But they're antsy to play matches. Everyone is ready to go."
The Rams will face Western Illinois on Saturday at 10 a.m. MT and host Drake on Sunday at 10 a.m. MT.
Sophomore Alyssa Grijalva and freshman Emily Luetschwager have each won their last three singles decisions. Grijalva owns the team's top record in singles play this spring, with a 6-1 mark at the No. 3 position.
Before falling at UNLV in the team's first league match on Feb. 12, CSU had won three consecutive matches, defeating Eastern Michigan, UC Riverside and Youngstown State.
Western Illinois (3-3) played three matches last week, going 2-1 with wins over St. Francis and St. Ambrose and a loss to Illinois State.
Drake (6-1) has had a successful spring thus far, with its only loss coming to Minnesota on Feb. 11. The Bulldogs and Rams met last year in Fort Collins, with Drake pulling out a tight 4-3 win in a match that went down to the last singles point.
These two matches will signal the end of a 10-match road stretch to begin the spring for the Rams. CSU will host its first two matches at the CSU Tennis Complex on March 3-4 against Omaha and Presbyterian.
