LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Colorado State softball team finished its regular season on a high note with a 3-1 victory at UNLV on Saturday afternoon.
Colorado State scored the first runs of the game in the second inning after Madison Kilcrease knocked a base hit to left to score Jordan Acosta who was pinch running for Lauren Buchanan who led the inning off with a single.
The Rams' defense was playing well, not allowing UNLV to record its first hit of the game until the third frame. CSU added to its lead in the top of the fourth on a run-scoring single by Danni Klein to put the Rams' lead at 2-0.
UNLV narrowed the gap in the fifth with a pair of singles before a sac fly to left scored a run to make the score 2-1 in favor of CSU.
CSU scored again in the sixth after Hannah McCorkhill led the inning off with a double to left center. Two batters later, she scored as Madison Kilcrease grounded out to second base and recorded the RBI.
The Rebels had an opportunity to steal the win, but Bridgette Hutton put the side down in order to secure the victory.
