Ram student-athletes set a single-year record GSR mark at 86 percent.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A year after turning in their highest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in program history, Colorado State student-athletes improved in the report yet again according to data released today by the NCAA.

CSU Athletics posted an overall GSR of 86 percent, increasing on last year's reported score of 85 percent. CSU's mark of 86 was the fifth-highest among conference membership and just two percent shy of the third-best mark. In all, seven programs met or exceeded the national average for their respective GSR scores.

Four CSU programs achieved a perfect GSR of 100: tennis, men's golf, volleyball, and soccer.  It marked the sixth-consecutive season for tennis, fourth-consecutive for volleyball, and fourth-consecutive for men's golf. Soccer has now posted consecutive seasons of perfect graduation success rates.

Additionally, softball and men's basketball posted their highest marks in program history at 96 and 94 percent, respectively.

About the Graduation Success Rate:
The Division I Board of Directors created the GSR in 2002 in response to Division I college and university presidents who wanted data that more accurately reflected the mobility of college students beyond what the federal graduation rate measures. The federal rate counts as an academic failure any student who leaves a school, no matter whether he or she enrolls at another school. Also, the federal rate does not recognize students who enter school as transfer students.

The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere. This calculation provides a more accurate appraisal of student-athlete success.
