CSU Earns First-Ever Trip to MW Tournament
Colorado State improved to 12-5-1 overall, doubling their previous program record of wins in a season. Within the Mountain West, the Rams up their record to 7-3, trailing Boise State and San Diego State who entered the day both at 7-2 and have a Sunday result pending.
The five-goal game ties the most all time in Ram history as Colorado State registered two five-goal games in 2017. To tack on more team accolades it marked CSU's first-ever win against UNLV.
Goals
16' Taylor Steinke – CSU
The junior forward from Highlands, Ranch, Colo. found the net in the high left part of the goal for the game's first score. The goal marked Steinke's third of the season, but that was soon to change.
20' Liv Layton – CSU (Assist – Caeley Lordemann)
Freshman midfielder Liv Layton, of Foristell, Mo., shot it high-left for her first collegiate goal. She entered the game with four previous shots. Senior midfielder Caeley Lordemann tallied her fifth assist of the season, which ups her season point total to 25.
37' Kristen Noonan – CSU
After missing three games prior to this road trip, Kristen Noonan played Friday and scored Sunday on a low-left goal for her sixth goal of the season. The sophomore forward is a first-year Ram after transferring from Cal State Fullerton and she trails just Lordemann on goals.
44' Marcella Brooks – UNLV
The Rebels got on the board with seven seconds left of the first half. Freshman midfielder Marcella Brooks scored her first collegiate goal.
47' Taylor Steinke – CSU (Assist – Alex Lanning)
Striking again right after the second-half kickoff was Steinke. She improved her goal total to four on the season and eight in her career. The assist from Alex Lanning registered as her first of the season and first since 2017.
66' Malika Markham – UNLV (Assist – Katie Ballou)
The Rebels did not go away despite the deficit as they added to their goals from Malika Markham – her third goal of the season.
82' Caeley Lordemann – CSU (Assist – Gracie Armstrong)
Sohpomore forward Gracie Armstrong slipped a pass through a few defenders to leave Caeley Lordemann one-on-one with the goal keeper, which the senior midfielder won. The goal marked her third on the weekend and 11th of the season. Armstrong ups her assist mark to eight, which further increases the CSU career record for a single player that she set on Friday.
