CSU scores final 10 points of the game, including game-winner with 1.0 to play
GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman – Basketball coaches preach to play all 40 minutes and Colorado State did that on Tuesday morning, as freshman Isaiah Stevens' floater with 1.0 to play lifted the Rams to a thrilling 61-60 victory over Loyola on the second day of the 3rd Annual Cayman Islands Classic Tuesday morning. The Rams improved to 4-3 on the year, while the Ramblers slipped to 3-4.
Trailing 60-51 at the final media timeout with 3:54 to play, CSU continued to batlle, cutting the margin down to six with 2:06 to play. From there, the drama unfolded in the final minute as sophomore Adam Thistlewood caught a pass deep in the right corner and canned the triple to make it 60-57 with 45 seconds to play. The Rams got a stop on the next possession and Stevens drove quickly to the bucket to make it a one-point contest. CSU quickly fouled three times and put Loyola to the line, where the shooter missed the front end of the one-and-one, with the loose ball going out of bounds in favor of the Rams. Stevens got the ball on the in-bounds pass, took it hard up the floor and drove into the lane for the floater that kissed off the front of the rim and rolled in for the winner with 1.0 to play.
For the game, the Rams shot 47.9 percent (23-of-48) from the floor, while the Ramblers shot 51.0 percent (26-of-51) from the field. CSU was impressive from the arc, connecting on 10-of-20 three-point attempts, but lost the battle of the boards 31-24. The Rams also pushed the pace of the game, outscoring Loyola 17-2 on fast breaks and 19-13 off turnovers.
Sophomore Kendle Moore led four Rams in double figures with 15 points, while Stevens and Thistlewood each added 14. Freshman David Roddy chipped in 10 points in the victory. Loyola had just two in double figures, led by Tate Hall with a game-high 22 points.
IN THEIR WORDS
Head coach Niko Medved
About getting the victory
It was a heck of a performance by our guys to stay with it and be able to come back. The game yesterday was a similar finish and we couldn't make that "one more" play, but today, we made one more play. It was a huge win by our guys against a very good team and now we have to get ready to come back tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. and do it again.
STAT OF THE GAME
The Rams held Loyola scoreless over the last 3:54 of the game, forcing the Ramblers to go 0-of-4 from the floor and two turnovers in that stretch
NOTES
• Colorado State now leads the overall series 2-1, with the victory over the Ramblers the first In three tries in his career for head coach Niko Medved.

• Stevens has scored in double figures in the last five games
