Enthusiastic Crowd Awaits Rams’ Season Opener

Poudre School Day Highlights Colorado State's Season Opener
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The wait is nearly over for the Colorado State women's basketball team in starting the 2019-20 campaign as the Rams welcome Chadron State Tuesday at 11 a.m. along with over 2,500 children for the Poudre School District Day at Moby Arena.
The season lid lifter is the first game of three in the Rams' queue for the week. Colorado State travels across town to Northern Colorado on Friday, and then is back home hosting Western Colorado on Sunday.
Coach's Corner
• Head Coach Ryun Williams enters his eighth year at the helm with a 144-80 (.643) overall record – the winningest coach in CSU history.
On the season opener and Poudre School District Day…
"The school district game is one of the more fun games we play in Moby Arena all year long. It is a very energetic, exciting day, and we look forward to competing in it. We are just ready to get this season going. Our student-athletes have worked hard in the preseason and I think they are excited to see where we can take this thing. It all gets started tomorrow at 11 a.m. and hope to see everyone there. We are ready to go."

What We Learned from the Exhibition?
• Last Wednesday, the Rams got a taste of live action, defeating CSU-Pueblo 84-44 at Moby Arena.
• Picking up where she left off from last season, Lore Devos tallied 21 points. Liah Davis amazed with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Megan Jacobs pitched in 10 points and four assists. Makenzie Ellis corralled nine rebounds and five points. Andrea Brady And Tori Williams each put up eight points.
• In all, CSU shot 44.2% from the field and out rebounded CSU-Pueblo 50-34.
• Twelve of the 13 eligible student-athletes logged minutes. Roichelle Marble rested her knee but has been full-go in practice.
Poudre School District Day
• For the season opener, the Rams host the Poudre School District in addition to the Eagles, which will include over 2,500 children and loud voices. Last season, CSU defeated Northern Arizona on PSD Day in front of a crowd of 2,434.
• Other promotions include color guard and a national anthem speaker. In addition, there will be a promotion with Bank of Colorado to give away a $500 check to a school.
Scouting Chadron State
• The Eagles, a part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, travel approximately four hours southwest from Chadron, Nebraska to Fort Collins to tip off the 2019-20 season at Moby Arena
• Last season, Chadron State finished 4-24 overall with a 3-19 record in the RMAC.
• From last year's squad, the Eagles return four starters and four other letterwinners, while losing three and six, respectively. They trot out eight newcomers for the 2019-20 campaign.
• Chadron State return their leading scorer from last season, Taryn Foxen. She posted 11.0 points per game and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game. Three Eagles shared the rebounding lead at 4.0 rpg and all return - McKenna McClintic, Jori Peters, and Jessica Lovitt.
Rams Pinned to finish Sixth in Mountain West Preseason Poll
• The preseason Mountain West Awards were released on Thursday, Oct. 31, with the Ram projected to finish sixth. In Williams' seven years, he has four first-place finishes, a sixth place, a fourth place and 2018's 11th place.
Rams in Season Openers
Since the program's beginning in 1974-75, the Rams are 28-17 in games to start the season. Williams who started in 2012 is 4-3 in game ones.
