FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field team will contend for conference titles this week at the 2019 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships.

This year's Mountain West indoor meet will be held from the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. On the men's side, Colorado State seeks its second Mountain West indoor title in the past three seasons and third overall. CSU's women's team looks to win its third Mountain West indoor title in the past four seasons and fourth all-time. Both teams are expected to be among the top contenders in their respective fields.

Men's heptathlon action begins at the MW Indoor Championships at 10 a.m. MT on Thursday, while the women's pentathlon is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. MT that day. The pentathlon will be contested to its completion on Thursday, while the final three events of the heptathlon are scheduled for Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. MT. Also scheduled for Thursday are the men's and women's distance medley relay at 4 p.m. MT.

Six field events are scheduled for Friday, including the women's and men's weight throw; the women's and men's long jump; and women's pole vault and the men's high jump. Also scheduled for Friday are the qualifying rounds for each of the hurdles and sprints, as well as the finals of the women's and men's 5,000 meters. Field events begin at 12:30 p.m. MT on Friday, while that day's track events are scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. MT.

The final six field events of the meet are scheduled to begin as early as at 10 a.m. MT and as late as 1 p.m. MT on Saturday. Those events include the women's and men's shot put; the women's and men's triple jump; the women's high jump and men's pole vault. Also scheduled for Saturday are the finals for each of the sprints, the 60-meter hurdles, the mile and the 3,000 meters. The mile will kick off events on the track at 11:40 a.m. MT, while the 4x400 relay is the meet's final event on the track (2:30 p.m. MT).

Where Rams Rank in the Mountain West
Entering this week's meet, senior Kelcey Bedard (weight throw), sophomore Destinee Rocker (60-meter hurdles) and redshirt senior Marybeth Sant (60 meters, 200 meters) rank as the Mountain West's leaders in their respective events.

Rams Finish with Most MW Indoor Athletes of the Week, Bedard Honored Twice
Following her performance at the Don Kirby Invitational, Colorado State senior Kelcey Bedard was named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The conference announced her weekly accolades on Tuesday, Feb. 12.

That marked the second weekly conference accolade for Bedard this indoor season. The Fort Collins, Colo., native has now earned weekly conference recognition three times in indoor track & field and five times overall in her career. Bedard is one of four athletes in the Mountain West to receive a weekly conference accolade multiple times this indoor season (Wyoming's Ja'la Henderson, New Mexico's Weini Kelati, UNLV's Destiny Smith-Barnett).

Furthermore, the Rams' seven total weekly conference selections and six athletes recognized this indoor season are each the most of any Mountain West track & field program. No other program had more than five of either.

Bedard turned in a personal-best performance in the women's weight throw at the Don Kirby Invitational en route to this week's conference accolade. The senior threw the weight 72-10 (22.20m), a mark that ranks second in program history and second in Mountain West history. Bedard's mark is the best by any Mountain West athlete in just under 14 years. As of that meet, her mark also ranked sixth in the NCAA.

Dawson, Mooney Sweep MW Men's Athlete of the Week honors after Colorado Invitational
Behind the merits of their performances at the Colorado Invitational, CSU freshmen Adam Dawson and Michael Mooney combined to sweep Mountain West Men's Athlete of the Week honors. The conference announced its weekly accolades on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Dawson earned the conference's men's field accolade after a then-personal-best performance in the men's weight throw. The freshman placed as the top collegian in the event at the Colorado Invitational, finishing with a best throw of 62-2.25 (18.95m). That performance ranked among the Mountain West's top marks this season, and ranked 71st in the NCAA at that time.

Mooney made his Colorado State debut in the mile at the Colorado Invitational, winning his first collegiate race with a time of 4:11.33 (4:05.20 when converted for altitude). The freshman's mile time was the best in the Mountain West to that point in the indoor season, and ranked 71st in the NCAA to that point.

Powell's Heptathlon Performance at Air Force Recognized by Mountain WestÂ
Following his performance in the heptathlon at the Air Force Combined Events, Colorado State senior Hunter Powell was named Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The conference announced Powell's accolades on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Powell completed his first heptathlon at CSU with a score of 5,209, topping the field at Air Force by nearly 600 points. The senior's performance was a personal best, and ranked sixth on CSU's all-time indoor list at the time of his performance. At the time of his recognition, Powell led the Mountain West in the heptathlon, ranked 19th in the NCAA and 71st in the world when including performances on all track sizes.

Trio of Rams Earn Weekly Accolades from Mountain West Following Potts Indoor Invitational
Following performances at the Potts Indoor Invitational, Colorado State's Kelcey Bedard, Marybeth Sant and Ronald Sayles were recognized with weekly honors from the Mountain West on Tuesday, Jan. 15

Sant clocked a time of 7.18 in the women's 60 meters, breaking her own program record. At that point, her time ranked as the No. 2 mark in the world this indoor season, and tops in the NCAA. Sant's time is also third in MW history, just one hundredth of a second behind the all-time conference record.

Sayles clocked a indoor-best time of 21.29 in the 200 meters. Sayles' time ranks third on CSU's all-time indoor list, and at the time, ranked 16th in the NCAA. In addition, Sayles' mark ranked atop the Mountain West in the event by nearly three tenths of a second at that point.

Bedard turned in a then-season-best performance of 64-7.75 (19.70m) in the weight throw. At that point in the season, her mark ranked 28th in the NCAA, and led the MW by over five feet. Only four other athletes in program history have a better weight throw mark than Bedard's from that meet.

Returning Indoor All-Mountain West Performers
At the conference level, Colorado State finished in second on each of the women's and men's sides last season. CSU returns seven athletes between the two teams that earned All-Mountain West honors last indoor season, including one Mountain West indoor champion, senior Kelcey Bedard (weight throw). Sophomore Destinee Rocker (60-meter hurdles) is also among the indoor all-conference returners for the women's team.
