FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field team is set to travel to four meets across the nation in its most competitive weekend of the regular-season portion of its indoor schedule.

The bulk of the team will head to the Don Kirby Invitational, which is hosted by New Mexico from the site of the upcoming Mountain West Indoor Championships, the Albuquerque Convention Center. CSU's distance runners will travel to the Husky Classic, a highly competitive meet held from Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Wash. A group of athletes will stay in-state for the Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open in Colorado Springs, Colo., while redshirt-senior Marybeth Sant will head to New York City for the 112th NRR Millrose Games.

Each of those meets will be contested over Friday and Saturday. The Don Kirby Invitational starts at 3 p.m. MT on Friday with the women's long jump. The first event on the track is the men's unseeded 400 meters, and is scheduled for 5 p.m. MT on Friday. Action begins in field events on Saturday with women's shot put at 9:30 a.m. MT. The first running event, the women's 60-meter hurdles, will begin 30 minutes after that.

The Husky Classic was originally to take place over Friday and Saturday, but was condensed to just Friday in anticipation of coming inclement weather. There will be a morning session that starts at 10 a.m. MT/9 a.m. PT, as well as an afternoon session that is scheduled to begin at 2:10 p.m. MT/1:10 p.m. PT.

Running events at the Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open begin at 4 p.m. MT on Friday and at 11 a.m. MT on Saturday with the women's 60-meter hurdles preliminaries and finals, respectively. Field events begin at the same respective times on each of Friday and Saturday.

Sant will compete in the 60 meters at the Millrose Games. The 60 meters is scheduled for 2:01 p.m. MT/4:01 p.m. ET, and she is the only collegian in the eight-athlete 60-meters field. The meet will be broadcast live on NBC, with coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. MT/4:30 p.m. ET and concluding at 4 p.m. MT/6 p.m. ET. While Sant's race precedes the start of NBC's coverage, her event is anticipated to be featured during the broadcast.

A full recap and final results will be posted to CSURams.com each day as soon as each are available. After this week, the Colorado State track & field team will compete in its final tune-up before conference weekend when it travels to the Rocky Mountain Classic in Laramie, Wyo., on Friday, Feb. 15.

Dawson, Mooney Sweep MW Men's Athlete of the Week honors after Colorado Invitational
Behind the merits of their performances at the Colorado Invitational, CSU freshmen Adam Dawson and Michael Mooney combined to sweep Mountain West Men's Athlete of the Week honors. The conference announced its weekly accolades on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Dawson earned the conference's men's field accolade after a then-personal-best performance in the men's weight throw. The freshman placed as the top collegian in the event at the Colorado Invitational, finishing with a best throw of 62-2.25 (18.95m). That performance ranked among the Mountain West's top marks this season, and ranked 71st in the NCAA at that time.

Mooney made his Colorado State debut in the mile at the Colorado Invitational, winning his first collegiate race with a time of 4:11.33 (4:05.20 when converted for altitude). The freshman's mile time was the best in the Mountain West to that point in the indoor season, and ranked 71st in the NCAA to that point.

Powell's Heptathlon Performance at Air Force Recognized by Mountain West
Following his performance in the heptathlon at the Air Force Combined Events, Colorado State senior Hunter Powell was named Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The conference announced Powell's accolades on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Powell completed his first heptathlon at CSU with a score of 5,209, topping the field at Air Force by nearly 600 points. The senior's performance was a personal best, and ranked sixth on CSU's all-time indoor list at the time of his performance. At the time of his recognition, Powell led the Mountain West in the heptathlon, ranked 19th in the NCAA and 71st in the world when including performances on all track sizes.
