A winning record, All-Mountain West honors and community support build confidence

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After the Rams women's tennis team wrapped-up a successful 2018-19 season with their first winning record since 2005 (11-10), this squad is still out to prove there is more to accomplish.

The Rams concluded this season by falling to host San Diego State 4-2 in the Mountain West Championship quarterfinals, however as a group this team achieved more last season than they have in the past 10 years and are continuing to show just how much they are getting better.

Courting Success
After finishing with their first winning record since 2005, the Rams also hit some other goals to complement their season:
  • First winning record since 2005
  • Most Mountain West victories (3) since 2010
  • First win over Wyoming in 10 years
  • First win over Boise State

Individually, this season also marks the first time the Rams had two players (Emily Luetschwager, Stella Cliffe) named all-MW in singles. They claimed three spots overall, with Cliffe and Emily Kolbow named as a doubles team.
With a young roster and many of the players returning, the future is looking bright for the Rams.

Academic Excellence
Not only are these Rams displaying success on the court but they have been in the classroom as well. The team has had a perfect Academic Performance Rate (APR) for three consecutive years with a team best GPA of 3.57, and it's been on an upward trend in coach Jarod Camerota's tenure at CSU.
  • Third consecutive year with a perfect APR
  • Team GPA of 3.57
  • Team GPA has consistently risen under Camerota
Fan and Community Support
This past February the CSU women's tennis team also received the largest gift donated to the program. Evelyn Hoeven and Tim Sanford generously donated $200,000, and it will help in providing scholarship funds and enhancing the experience of the student athletes participating in tennis.

With the donation, the CSU women's tennis team is set to install six electronic scoreboards for home matches and also establish the Hoeven Family Tennis scholarship to help aid in scholarship funds for the program.
Bolstered with confidence after the stream of accomplishments the past season, Camerota has a roster determined to push its boundaries.

"It was a very good year. Seven of our eight players are returning, so we're looking to be even better next year," Camerota said. "We had three 4-3 losses in the conference, so we're really close with everybody. We just hope to keep getting better."
