THE WEEK
• Colorado State will begin the 2019 season, hosting the Ram Volleyball Classic. The Rams will host Chicago State, Cal and Oklahoma in a round-robin tournament.
• The Rams will open the season playing Chicago State on Friday morning at 11 a.m., MT.
• CSU will play two matches on Saturday, starting with Cal at 1 p.m., before the 'Main Event' at 7:30 p.m., against Oklahoma for its annual White Out match.
• All three matches will be broadcast on the MW Network.
LOOKING AHEAD
• Following the season opening weekend, the Rams will hit the road for Fort Worth, Texas for the Fight in the Fort hosted by TCU, Sept. 6-7.
• CSU will face Florida Atlantic, TCU and Florida State over the two-day tournament.
OPPONENTS AT A QUICK GLANCE
• All three teams will begin their season's this weekend.
• Chicago State finished 2018 with a 9-24 overall mark and 3-13 in the WAC.
• The Cougars have six upperclassmen - with five being seniors - and seven freshman.
• Cal finished last season with a 15-16 overall record and 7-13 in the Pac-12.
• The Bears return their top five scorers and blockers from a season ago, as well as their top three servers.
• Oklahoma recorded a 17-11 overall record in 2018, including finishing fourth in the Big 12 with a 9-7 mark.
• The Sooners lost their top scorer, but still return four from last season. OU also returns its top blocker (P. Anderson).
RAMS AT A GLANCE
• CSU enters the 2019 season tabbed as the favorite to win the Mountain West for the seventh consecutive season.
• The Rams won their 15th regular season MW title in 2018 after a 23-8 overall record and 15-3 in league play.
• Senior setter, Katie Oleksak was named the Preseason Player of the Year for the second time.
• CSU claimed four of the seven preseason team positions, including Oleksak, Breana Runnels, Kirstie Hillyer and Paulina Hougaard-Jensen.
• The Rams reached the 20-win plateau a season ago for the 24th consecutive season.
• Last season the Rams finished in the Top-25 in the nation in aces per set, blocks per set and hitting percentage.
• The only loss CSU will see from 2018 is in its ace and dig totals. The Rams return 98.3% of their total offense.
