FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After a week off from competition, the Colorado State track and field teams will return to action at the Colorado Invitational starting Thursday and going through Saturday at the Indoor Practice Facility.
The meet, hosted on the campus of the University of Colorado, will commence Thursday for the Rams with pole vaulters on the women's side. Friday's schedule features the jumps (long, triple, high) in addition to the mile, distance medley and weight throw. The meet's closing day on Saturday will have the shot put and then all the remaining running events from sprints to the 5,000-meter race.
The Rams did not utilize a full squad last time out at the Air Force Invitational mostly due to the elevation. This weekend, CSU plans to be more of a full-go in Boulders as the Mountain West Championships loom in a month's time.
The MW indoor meet is scheduled for Feb. 27-29 in Albuquerque, NM.

On getting back into competition…
"This past week has been about getting healthy, tweaking our techniques and getting our focus aligned. Some folks were banged up, so we had extra time for their treatments and getting them back on track, while others needed some technical improvements. We didn't compete as well as we wanted last time out, which was an eye opener for both us [coaches] and the student-athletes. However, there is the few cases of athletes that have it rolling, and we just need to keep on, keeping on with their development and performance."
On approaching conference meet…
"Our conference team is shaping up. We have an idea of the 28 that will fulfill the roster, but there is still plenty of competition in that. After each meet, we [coaches] are checking results and seeing how we stand in events and how we stack up against others. It's all about who has the best chance at scoring and what event areas that we are strong in."
On resting multi-events…
"We are feeling good about where our women are at currently. They will compete in individual events, but we don't see the need for them to compete in the full pentathlon. For the men, some of them are banged up a little, so they are going to work on the events separately and not go through the heptathlon."
