Colorado State’s 2013-14 cohort posted a school-record 77 percent graduation rate.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Highlighted by a school-record 77-percent graduation rate for the 2013-14 graduation cohort, Colorado State posted an 85-percent mark in the NCAA's most recent Graduation Success Rate report, one point shy from last year's school-record mark.

Colorado State's 71-percent mark for the four-class average is also a high-water mark and was the second-highest mark in the Mountain West. That mark was bolstered by four programs who posted perfect 100 scores: men's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis, and women's volleyball.

Colorado State student-athletes also graduated at a rate that was seven percent higher than the general CSU student body in the 2013-14 cohort and two  percentage points higher in the overall four-class average.

Three other programs posted GSR marks of at least 92 or higher (men's basketball, women's basketball, and softball), and all programs exceeded the federal graduation rate by at least three percent.

About the Graduation Success Rate:
The Division I Board of Directors created the GSR in 2002 in response to Division I college and university presidents who wanted data that more accurately reflected the mobility of college students beyond what the federal graduation rate measures. The federal rate counts as an academic failure any student who leaves a school, no matter whether he or she enrolls at another school. Also, the federal rate does not recognize students who enter school as transfer students.

The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere. This calculation provides a more accurate appraisal of student-athlete success.
