Colorado State will play the Aggies Wednesday at 11 a.m. MT

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State travels to Logan, Utah for a mid-week morning game against Utah State in what is to be a lively crowd packed with elementary school children inside Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The contest between the Rams and Aggies is scheduled for Wednesday with a 11 a.m. MT tip.

About two and half weeks ago, CSU used a denying defensive stand to hold off USU at the final buzzer to win 56-55 at Moby Arena. Since, neither team has had much success. The Rams (4-8 MW) have lost three, including a close affair at UNLV, while the Aggies (2-11 MW) have gone 1-4, but are riding high with a buzzer-beating win at Boise State most recently.

Within the Mountain West standings, CSU currently stands in ninth with six remaining games before the conference tournament at the start of March. The fight to earn a bye as a top-5 team is attainable, but the Rams have an uphill battle. The Rams look for a series sweep in three of the games (USU, WYO, AF) and a split in the other three (UNLV, SJSU, SDSU).

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Ryun Williams
On heading to Logan, Utah…
"This Utah State team is defending well right now in addition to their guard play and Hailey Bassett playing well. They are going to be tough to handle. There will be a lot of energy in the building, which we are excited about as well. To play in front of 6,000 – those are always fun games. Yeah, they aren't cheering for you, but kids that young are just cheering for anything. Utah State is coming off a crazy game at Boise State where they sunk a shot with only 1.4 seconds remaining, so they have some momentum and we have to halt that."

Off The Tip
• Last time out, the Rams were unable to slow down undefeated Fresno State and its high-scoring offense (2nd in MW) in a 79-61 defeat. As opposed to the first meeting that needed a buzzer beater to determine the winner, the Bulldogs used a dominating 29-7 second quarter to lead by 18 at the break and then led by as much as 33 in the fourth. Mountain West's Player of the Week, Aly Gamez, dropped 27 points, while shooting 85-percent from the floor and 71-percent from 3.

• During conference play, Andrea Brady and Makenzie Ellis have been the Rams' stalwarts. Ellis has double-digit scoring games in 9 of the 12 MW contests. Since the turn of the calendar, she has poured in 141 points in 10 games (14.1 ppg). In the same time frame, Brady has compiled 86 rebounds (8.6 rpg) with 88 points 8.8 ppg). Brady's 23-rebound performance against San Jose State stands third in NCAA DI this season, while it set a single-game record at CSU.

• Defense continues to be the Rams' specialty. Thirteen times this season CSU, the MW second-best scoring defense (60.4 ppg), has held an opponent to 60 points or less. Six times it has been below 50 points - a feat not replicated in the MW. Fourteen times this season, CSU held its opponent to under 10 points in a quarter including four times it has been under five points.

• Ball control continues to be a strength for the Rams. CSU has had less turnovers than its opponent in all but five games (UIW, BSU, NM, AFA, at NEV), ranking first in the Mountain West in turnovers per game (11.1), which checks in second nationally. The turnover margin (+4.2) is second in the MW and 42nd in the NCAA. In all but six games (SDSU, BSU, TUL, NM, UNLV, FS), the Rams have scored more points off of the turnovers than its counterpart.

• Redshirt-senior forward Andrea Brady has pulled in a team-high 196 rebounds, which ranks fifth in the Mountain West and 72nd in the NCAA. Average-wise that pans out to 8.5 a game for fourth in the conference and 93rd nationally. She has five double-digit board games with a high of 23 and has had at least six in all but three games. She is on pace for 256 rebounds which would put her near the CSU's all-time top-10 single-season record list.

What to Watch For? (Stats based on all games)
• USU Scoring Offense (11th in MW) vs. CSU scoring defense (2nd in MW)
• USU FG% (10th in MW) vs. CSU FG% defense (2nd in MW)
• USU rebounding margin (8th in MW) vs. CSU rebounding margin (10th in MW)
• USU TO margin (10th in MW) vs. CSU TO margin (2nd in MW)

More on Utah State
• Senior forward Hailey Bassett became the 10th Aggie to score 1,000 points in her career after scoring 12 points against Boise State (Jan. 18). She currently sits at the No. 8 spot with 1,070 points.
• Sophomore guard Steph Gorman has made 56 3-pointers this season to rank No. 4 on the single-season record list. Gorman is just the second Aggie to have made 50-plus 3-pointers in back-to-back seasons after making 54 in her freshman campaign.

In Game One vs. Utah State
• The Rams notched their eighth win of the season inside Moby Arena with a 56-55 decision against Utah State. CSU, the then MW top-scoring defense, denied the Aggies of a chance to win on the final possession of the game and ultimately kept its third-straight opponent to less than 60 points. The Rams flipped 20 Aggie turnovers into 21 points, while only committing seven turnovers to fall under their MW-leading average of 11.3 turnovers per game.
