Colorado State will host Wyoming Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Moby Arena.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – If there's anything that can outdo the hype of a Border War it would be the collaboration of UCHealth and the Colorado State women's basketball team when the Rams take on Wyoming Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Moby Arena.

Swapping the student-athletes' names on the back of their jerseys with those of UCHealth cancer patients in attendance is one of many things that make the day special. It is a collaboration that was put into action with a hospital visit a month ago or three days after the Rams defeated the Cowgirls in Laramie on the fourth day of the new year. Prior to the game, cancer fighters will observe shootaround, attend head coach Ryun Williams' "Chalk Talk" with donors, stand next to their student-athlete for the national anthem and join in celebration after the final buzzer on the court.

To tack on, the game is pinned as a Pink Out for CSU's oldest and most-played foe, Wyoming. The series started in 1975 according to the Rams and with January's win are ahead 51-50. The Pokes count two games prior to what CSU recognizes as the official first team, making them up 52-51.

In game one of this season's series, the Rams defeated the Cowgirls, 56-49, on the backs of a career-high 22 points from Makenzie Ellis, including a dominating fourth quarter with a dozen points. Helping secure the win was a 9-for-11 performance at the free throw line in that final frame between Ellis, Andrea Brady and Tori Williams.

Head Coach Ryun Williams
On Saturday's game…
"This is a huge momentum game for us if we can build off what we accomplished at Utah State. It's obviously a fun, big rivalry game with it being the Border War and Wyoming being a good basketball team. It will take a great effort to get that Border War victory, but the most important thing is that it is the UCHealth game. We are going to be wearing names on the back of our jerseys that will be honoring UCHealth patients that are in a tougher struggle than any basketball player is. To honor that and be a part of a UCHealth game is a very special thing. There is a lot happening in Moby Arena, so everybody needs to get there for the 2 p.m. and wear pink."

Mountain West Outlook
Within the Mountain West standings, CSU currently stands in eighth with five remaining games before the conference tournament at the start of March. The fight to earn a bye as a top-5 team is attainable, but the Rams have an uphill battle. The Rams look for a series sweep in two of the games (WYO, AF) and a split in the other three (UNLV, SJSU, SDSU).

Off The Tip
• Last time out, the Rams used a season-high 15 made 3s (15-of-31) to down Utah State, 67-61, in a Wednesday 11 a.m. game due to it being the Aggies' elementary school game. Jamie Bonnarens notched a season-best 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting and a perfect 4 for 4 behind the arc. CSU gained the lead with less than a minute to go in the first quarter and never gave it up. Tori Williams tied her season-high seven assists, but most importantly had zero turnovers.

• During conference play, Andrea Brady and Makenzie Ellis have been the Rams' stalwarts. Ellis has 10 double-digit scoring games in MW play and has poured in 153 (13.9 ppg) points in the 11 games after the pre-holiday MW games. Brady has compiled 99 rebounds (7.6 rpg) with 88 points (9.9 ppg) in conference play with highs of 23 points against Boise State and a school record 23 rebounds against San Jose State, which also stands third in NCAA DI this season.

• Defense continues to be the Rams' specialty. Thirteen times this season CSU, the MW second-best scoring defense (60.4 ppg), has held an opponent to 60 points or less. Six times it has been below 50 points - a feat not replicated in the MW. Fourteen times this season, CSU held its opponent to under 10 points in a quarter including four times it has been under five points.

• Ball control continues to be a strength for the Rams. CSU has had less turnovers than its opponent in all but five games (UIW, BSU, NM, AFA, at NEV), ranking first in the Mountain West in turnovers per game (11.0), which checks in second nationally. The turnover margin (+4.2) is second in the MW and 39th in the NCAA. In all but six games (SDSU, BSU, TUL, NM, UNLV, FS), the Rams have scored more points off of the turnovers than its counterpart.

• Redshirt-senior forward Andrea Brady has pulled in a team-high 205 rebounds, which ranks fifth in the Mountain West and 72nd in the NCAA. Average-wise that pans out to 8.5 a game for fourth in the conference and 93rd nationally. She has five double-digit board games with a high of 23 and has had at least six in all but three games. She is on pace for 256 rebounds which would put her in CSU's all-time top-10 single-season record list.

What to Watch For? (Stats based on all games)
• WYO Scoring Defense (3rd in MW) vs. CSU scoring defense (2nd in MW)
• WYO Scoring Offense (6th in MW) vs. CSU scoring defense (2nd in MW)
• WYO FG percentage (3rd in MW) vs. CSU FG percentage defense (2nd in MW)
• WYO Turnover Margin (9th in MW) vs. CSU Turnover Margin (2nd in MW)

More on Wyoming
• Gerald Mattinson is in his first year as the head coach of the Wyoming Cowgirls. He has spent the previous 16 seasons on the Cowgirl bench as an assistant coach and then an associate head coach. The program record for wins by a first-year head coach is 15 by Chad Lavin - currently on CSU's bench.
• After a 9-of-10 performance from the field against New Mexico, sophomore Tereza Vitulova has the 30th-best field goal percentage in the nation and the best in the Mountain West at 55.1 percent (135-of-245).
• In the MW preseason poll, Wyoming was pinned to finish fourth after concluding last season in third place. The Aggies are coming off a Saturday 74-71 overtime loss at home to New Mexico. Leading the Cowgirls is sophomore Tereza Vitulova who sits eighth in the Mountain West on the scoring list and 13th on the rebounding list. In game one of the series at Arena Auditorium, Vitulova scored 16 points, but only corralled one rebound.

In Game One vs. Wyoming (1/4/20; more on page 9 of game notes)
• The Rams forced Wyoming into 15 turnovers – the most by the Cowgirls in their four Mountain West games this season.
Makenzie Ellis in back-to-back games set a career-high mark in points. She scored 19 points against Nevada and followed that up with 22 against Wyoming.
• Nine of the Rams' 10 free throws made occurred in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
