Regen, Gou both transfer in to bolster lineup
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – To close out his 2020 recruiting class, Colorado State head coach Jarod Camerota sought out experience to bolster the tennis roster, landing a pair of transfers with Division I experience he welcomed to the program on Wednesday.
Tracy Gou becomes a Ram after two years at Troy, and Lou Regen will be with the team for one year as a graduate transfer after playing for Campbell University the past three seasons. They join incoming freshman Sarah Weekley, who signed during the early period.
"It's great to add the experience Tracy and Lou bring in, having already played two and four years of college tennis," Camerota said. "Their maturity is going to be great for us, and Sarah has a lot of experience playing ITF international tournaments."
Tracy (Chunxi) Guo | Chengdu, China | Troy University
She joins the program with two years of eligibility after playing at Troy the past two seasons. She was 15-17 as a singles player, 20-11 at doubles. She played just three matches in singles and doubles in 2019-20, all in the fall tournament season. She earned All-Sun Belt honors at doubles in 2018-19, earning player of the week honors once.
Why CSU – "I am really interested in the major of business, as well as the environment there."
Coach Camerota – "She played in the top half of the lineup and played in the top doubles spot, so she brings experience and quality wins there. She's a hard worker with a lot of maturity, good grades and is somebody who will get down the business and do what's extra. There's no learning curve with her. She's established and knows the college system, and we've seen her good results in singles and doubles."
Lou Regen | Stockholm, Sweden | Campbell University
A grad transfer, she was 28-12 as a singles player at Campbell University, 22-13 overall in doubles in her three years on the roster. She earned first-team All-Big South honors as a singles player in the 2017-18 season with a 13-5 mark, 13-4 at the No. 3 spot while posting a 6-2 conference record. She was named the Big South player of the week twice that season. She originally enrolled at Connecticut, but did not play. She comes to the program seeking a Master's degree in art leadership and cultural management.
Why CSU – "I chose CSU because of the competitive tennis program and the great possibility to combine another year of college tennis with a creative Master's program. Colorado and Fort Collins seem to be an amazing place, with mountains, beautiful nature and a progressive population."
Coach Camerota – "One of her coaches told me she's an amazing kid to coach, and she's a high-energy player, and that's really what we need. We need that personality who raises our level. I talked to a coach who played against her this year, and he said she was the loudest player in the building. That's good, because that's what we want. She's an amazing fighter on the court."
