Rams Tie Broncos for Point

Colorado State Ties Boise State, 1-1

BOISE, Id. – Basically a game version of Slip N' Slide occurred Sunday afternoon between the Colorado State and Boise State soccer teams as the two battled consistent rain in a 1-1 tie at Boas Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.

Both the Rams and the Broncos two close shots in the final three minutes of the second extra time, but they ended the same – save and high. At the end of the 110 minutes, the score stayed the same, giving each team a point in the Mountain West standings. The Rams moved to 6-6-3 overall and 5-4-1 in the conference with 16 points, while the Broncos went to 9-6-3 overall and 3-4-3 in the MW for 12 points.

"I'm really proud on how our team fought," head coach Keeley Hagen said. "It was a gritty fight to the end. Credit Boise State for getting its chances. We capitalized on ours. We had some really good looks in the second overtime, so it was great to see us challenge all the way up until the final horn. Ultimately, getting a point at Boise is a good outcome. They are a good team even if their record doesn't show that. We got better today in the sense of paying attention to the details. We aren't going to be perfect but we are proud of the process and the mentality that we displayed."

At half, Boise dominated the offensive stats with more shots (9 BS, 5 CSU), shots on goal (2 BS, 1 CSU) and corners (BS 7, CSU 2), but trailed in the goal category. Senior Kristen Noonan found the net in the 27th minute to record her 13th goal in her CSU career and seventh of the season. Credited with the assist was Caroline Lucas on the cross, marking her second of the season.

The Boise State equalizer came in the 59th minute from junior Morgan Stone. The Broncos about moved ahead a few minutes later, but Ram goalkeeper Shayna Ross won the one-on-one scenario for one of her five saves on the day.

Goals
27' Kristen Noonan – Colorado State (Assist – Caroline Lucas)
Caroline Lucas on the side, played it into the box where Kristen Noonan and two defenders were converging. The first bronco whiffed on the ball, leaving Noonan as the next in line and she didn't miss. The redirection also wasn't much, but enough to deflect the cross into the bottom left corner and away from the goalkeeper.

59' Morgan Stone – Boise State (Assist – Mia Burns)
From a few yards wide of the corner of the right box, Morgan Stone hit a lollipop shot to the back left post. The trajectory of the shot fell right in front of the cross bar and over Shayna Ross' gloves.
