Camerota hits transfer portal to flip roster

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State's women's tennis program will add four players to the 2021-22 roster who are currently playing for Division I schools.

Coach Jarod Camerota announced the addition of four experienced players – Lucia Natal, Matea Mihaljevic, Somer Dalla-Bona and Sarka Richterova -- who have all played roles in the top three singles and top two doubles spots at their current schools. All had entered the transfer portal for the upcoming season, with three of them joining the Rams as graduate transfers, while Richterova will have multiple years of eligibility.

"These four players will be a great addition to CSU, and we give credit to them and their current coaches for the development they have made," Camerota said.

Lucia Natal | Asturias, Spain | Santa aria del Naracnco-Alter via (Texas-Arlington)

She will join the Rams as a graduate transfer pursuing a degree in communication and technology. She carries a universal tennis rating (UTR) of 9.50 in singles and doubles. The past three season she has compiled a 53-21 record in singles play, 22-17 in doubles.

Camerota said: "Lucia is a fighter who plays with a ton of energy.  We played against her in February of 2020 and got to see this firsthand."

Matea Mihaljevic | Osijek, Croatia | Troy University

She comes to the Rams as a graduate transfer and will enroll in the nine-month tourism management Master's program. Carrying a UTR of 9.4, she has posted a 45-40 record at Troy in singles, where she spent time as the No. 1 player over the past two seasons. She went 31-25 in doubles. She will see a familiar face, as current Ram Tracy Guo was a teammate of hers last year.

Camerota said: "Matea is a great competitor who has played at the No. 1 position for two years.  She is very mature and has developed well since playing No. 5 at Troy in her freshman year.  This improvement came from her and the coach's hard work."

Somer Dalla-Bona Bokarina, Australia | Mountain Creek State HS (Coastal Carolina)

She will also enter the nine-month Master's program for tourism management as a graduate transfer. She carries UTRs of 9.68 in singles and 9.95 in doubles. She earned All-Sun Belt honors in doubles in 2018 and in singles in 2019. She has posted a 27-9 record at singles, 20-13 at doubles.

Camerota said: "Somer is laid back but wants to win so bad on court.  I'm excited to see her continue to improve this spring."

Sarka Richterova | Prague, Czechia | Obchodi Akademie Dusi (Drexel)

She will transfer in as a junior with three years of eligibility possible. She has recorded a 14-8 record in singles, 12-8 in doubles while carrying a UTR of 9.87 in singles, 9.73 in doubles. Drexel has yet to play a match this season.

Camerota said: "Sarka is very motivated and has a passion for tennis.  I'm looking forward to seeing what she does this season at Drexel."
