Rams Resume Action with Sweep

Colorado State resumed play after a bye week, recorded a sweep at San Jose State Friday afternoon.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – After having last weekend off for its bye, the Colorado State volleyball returned to action and recorded the sweep in the first match at San Jose State. The Rams earned their first clean match at Spartan Gym for the first time since 2013 when CSU was No. 10 in the country.

Colorado State took the first set 25-23 as it led the whole frame, even leading by six at 18-12. San Jose State made it close, using a 4-0 and 3-0 runs late to keep the set close. In the second, the Rams led early but the Spartans used an 11-1 run to lead 20-14. CSU clawed its way back to take the set 26-24 including scoring the final four points. In the last game, San Jose State led at 16-13, but again Colorado State fought back and put together a 7-2 run to take a 20-18 led – one they would not surrender as it took the final set, 25-22.

STAT OF THE MATCH
Colorado State played efficient, recording only eight attack errors for a .342 hitting mark led by Kennedy Stanford who finished hitting .500 and flooring 15 kills.

NOTES
- Breana Runnels finished leading the Rams with 17 kills and hitting .318. She also added eight digs and a block
- Kennedy Stanford added to the offense with 15 kills with just two errors for a .500 hitting mark
- Alexa Roumeliotis led the back row with 10 digs
- Ciera Zimmerman paced the offense with 31 assists
- Stanford also put up a pair of blocks
