Colorado State Soccer Nabs Transfer from Loyola Chicago
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Experience is something that Megan Demski immediately brings to the Colorado State soccer program after three seasons of six total championships and three NCAA College Cup appearances at Loyola Chicago.
Â
Head coach Keeley Hagen announced the addition on Thursday. "We are excited to have Megan join our roster," Hagen said. "She has performed and made an impact at her previous institution. We are thrilled for her to begin right away to grow and develop here at CSU and make an impact on our team and in the Mountain West."
Â
Demski becomes the fourth transfer to join the Rams this semester along with Hale Otto (Georgia), Katy Coffin (Kansas State) and Kaya Pehrson (Texas Tech). The four new Rams bring the newcomer count to seven with November's freshmen signees of Jessica Shivers, Mia Massey, and Ishana Sandhu.
Â
The campus of Loyola Chicago sits on the north shoreline of the Windy City and approximately 30 miles east of Demski's hometown of Hoffman Estates, Ill. While with the Ramblers, she has been a part of three consecutive Missouri Valley Conference sweeps in terms of ULC winning the regular season and conference tournament. In all three instances, the Ramblers advanced to the NCAA First Round, but did not go any further. In two of the games, the Ramblers lost by one goal in overtime periods, including this past season, losing to No. 24 Purdue in the second overtime. The team finished 13-3-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the MVC.
Â
Demski's best season came this past fall as she was tied second on the team in points with 13, which came from three assists and five goals. She appeared in all 18 games with one start, totaling 603 minutes for 33.5 mpg. Offensively, she had 26 shots with 10 on goal for a .385 SOG%. Two of her scores were game winners over Florida Atlantic and Illinois State. Off the field, she was named to the MVC scholar athlete honorable mention team.
Â
In the shortened spring 2021 season, the defender appeared in all 11 games, helping the Ramblers to their third MVC title in as many years and Demski's second. As a freshman, Demski played in seven games for ULC's repeat championship season.
Â
Prior to college, Demski played primarily at the club level for coach David Richardson's Sockers FC Chicago and played every minute of every game along the backline in 2017-18. At William Fremd high school, she was the recipient of the Viking Pride Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the student body.
