Rams Tallied Four School Records and Three Facility Records

BOULDER, Colo. – Saturday's results will be peppered all over the Colorado State track and field record book including four school records and 14 additional top-20 marks in the final day of the Colorado Invitational.

"It was a good day to be a Ram," head coach Brian Bedard said. "I think there are certain meets during the season that shape the future of the season for the program, and this was one of those meets. We had school records and lifetime bests, while competing extremely well. That is what you hope for as a staff and that's what we saw today in several event areas. It was a special day and a proud day to be the head coach."

The first two school marks came back-to-back in the 400-meter races with both Rams winning as well. Lauren Gale, who already owned the CSU women's record, shaved 1.23 seconds off that time to reset the record at 51.53. Entering today's action, that time registers as the best in the NCAA Indoor Performance list.

Moments later, Tom Willems clocked a 46.54 to jump Deontrey Taylor (1998) and previous record holder Drew Morano (46.74, 2007) and become the new Ram frontrunner. His time ranks fourth across the NCAA entering today.

The last two school marks also came in the same event – the 4x400-meter relay – and with it being the final races it put the finishing touches on an eventful day for the Rams. First, the men's team (Adam Stark, John Fulton, Jack Cauble and Willems) held off CU the end to win the relay and cross at 3:09.59 for almost a full second off the previous mark set in two years ago that Stark and Willems were a part of.

Gale along with Yolonda Johnson, Grace Goldsworthy and Jessica Ozoude followed to obtain the women's mark in the event with a time of 3:36.28. Just like the men's team, two of the runners – Gale and Ozoude – were a part of the previous record but set three years ago.

Three of the four school records (400s, women's 4x4) also were facility records at CU's Indoor Practice Facility that houses all the Colorado home meets.

The other men winners consisted of Liam Mather (60mH) and Cameron Ross (800m) with the latter obtaining the school's 10th-best time at 1:51.96.

The only other woman winner was Ozoude in the 200m with a time of 23.45 – good to set the facility record, but not her own No. 1 school mark.

For the meet, CSU won 15 of the 30 total events. The men took seven, while the women won the other eight. All eighteen of the top-20 CSU marks occurred Saturday during the track day.
