Despite offensive chances Colorado State drops final road game of 2022
Colorado Springs, Colo.- Colorado State (4-5-7) ends the 2022 road slate with a 1-0 loss against Colorado College (6-5-4) on Sunday afternoon.Â
ÂThe Rams handled the ball well in the first half, controlling the possession for most of the first half leading to four shots. However, the box score doesn't reflect the Rams' strong play as the Tigers created seven chances of their own, five of which found their way to the net. Emilie Gavillet got the start in net and snuffed out four of Colorado College's attempts with the fifth one finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute.
ÂThe Rams cranked up the heat down a goal in the second half. Four of the Rams' twelve shots peppered the Tiger's goaltender Ally Wakeman who stood strong in her shutout performance.Â
ÂThe Rams defense limited the Tigers' chances in the second half, but the damage had already been done as the final horn sounded and the Rams offense was shutout for the seventh time this season.
ÂColorado State ends their road schedule with a respectable 3-4-4 record. With the final three matches of the season coming at home the Rams are looking to catch up in the Mountain West standings. The Rams will begin their home stand with San Jose State at 3 p.m., on Thursday for their annual Pink Out match before hosting Fresno State at 1 p.m., on Sunday.
