Colorado State women’s basketball will host Colorado Christian on Tuesday night
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The 2022-23 season will get underway this week as the Colorado State women's basketball team hosts Colorado Christian on Tuesday night in an exhibition contest starting at 6:30 p.m., at Moby Arena. This game is open to the public and fans are welcome to come get their first look at this year's roster.
Â
Head Coach Ryun Williams will begin his 11th season at the helm after a 21-12 overall mark a season ago and a postseason berth. The Rams made a run in the Mountain West Tournament, reaching the Championship game for just the fourth time. Following the week in Las Vegas, the Rams returned to the postseason, appearing in the WNIT to face Portland.
Â
Colorado State returns three regular starters from the 2021-22 squad, including McKenna Hofschild who was named to the Preseason All-Mountain West team for the second time. The senior also has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award and the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch Lists. The point guard led the Rams a season ago in scoring and lead the league in assists per game, which also was No. 5 in the country.
Â
The Rams were selected to finish third in the 11-team conference as voted by the league's head coaches and media members.
Â
Colorado Christian posted a 9-18 overall record and 6-16 in the RMCA in 2021-22. The Cougars are led by Diane Thompson who is in her second year as head coach. CCU lost their top three scorers from last season, but return Agnes Paul, a senior who averaged 8.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg.
Â
Following the exhibition contest, Colorado State will begin the regular season host three-consecutive games at Moby Arena, starting next Tuesday, Nov. 8 against BYU for a White Out at 6:00 p.m.
