Colorado State women’s golf sits in a tie for fourth after the first round

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – A strong finish helped Colorado State move into the top 5 of the team standings after round one of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate Friday afternoon. The Rams sit tied for fourth thanks to a flurry of eight birdies over the final four holes at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch to shoot a 2-over, 290 as a team.

Senior Andrea Bergsdottir led the charge for CSU, who teed off on the back nine. She was consistent throughout the round shooting matching 35s for a 2-under, 70, placing her in a tie for eighth on the individual leaderboard. The Sweden native was even-par through 14 when she rolled in back-to-back birdies on her scorecard on the par 4 sixth and seventh hole. She recorded four birdies for the round.

Panchalika Arphamongkol also finished day one under par with a 1-under, 71. After an even-par first nine, she finished with a bang birding her final two holes to finish in the red. Arphamongkol is tied for 12th individually.

The Rams are tied with Xavier entering tomorrow's second round and two strokes back of host Denver.
