Men’s Basketball Ready for Challenging Shriners Charleston Classic

CSU men's basketball opens the Charleston Classic Thursday against South Carolina

CHARLESTON, SC. – Colorado State men's basketball hits the road for the first time this season to compete in the 2022 Shriners Charleston Classic starting Thursday against South Carolina. The Rams and Gamecocks face off inside TD Arena at 3 pm MT on ESPNU. Joining CSU and South Carolina in the tournament are host College of Charleston, Davidson, Furman, Old Dominion Penn State and Virginia Tech.
 
Opening Tip
- Colorado State improved to 3-0 on the year with an impressive 77-52 win over Weber State Monday night.
- Ten of the 11 Rams that saw game time scored a point.
- John Tonje led the team with 15 points to go with five rebounds and three steals.
- Jalen Lake scored a career-high 12 points, all coming behind the arc on a career-best four made threes. He added in five assists and four rebounds.
- For the second straight game CSU recorded 20 assists, this time on 29 made shots.
- Baylor Hebb dished out a career-high six assists in the win to lead the Rams.

- The Rams held Weber State to an opponent season-low 33.9% shooting.
- CSU capitalized on Weber State turnovers scoring 23 points off them, 10 via steals.
- Head coach Niko Medved looks for his 160th career win on Thursday.
- Thursday's game is the first of three for CSU at t he Charleston Classic. 
- South Carolina defeated rival Clemson their last time out 60-58.
- The Gamecocks welcome one of the top recruits in the nation to their team in GG Jackson.
- Thursday marks the third meeting between Colorado State and South Carolina. Both teams have won on their own home court.
- Colorado State has not played in the state of South Carolina since 2001 when they played in Columbia against USC.
