ESSENTIAL READING
SETTING THE STAGE: THE SAN JOSE STATE GAME
» The stretch run goes back to one of Jay Norvell's first topics with his team.

HOWELL'S PASSION CLEAR TO SEE
» There is an edge there. Jay Norvell could see it right away. Nothing he's seen since has changed his mind.

TURNER WORKING ON MEETING HIS EXPECTATIONS
» The task was daunting, plain and simple.

GAME NOTES
  • Colorado State may start as many as six freshmen this weekend against the Broncos, including five on offense. That would be the highest total of any team in the FBS this season.
  • On the flip side, the Rams regularly start just eight total senior starters. Only 11 schools in the country start fewer seniors.
  • Colorado State has started three different freshman quarterbacks this season. They are one of just six teams in the country to start three different quarterbacks and the lone school in the nation to start three different freshmen at QB.
  • Colorado State, for a variety of reasons including injuries and roster movement, enters the San Jose State game with just 54 possible scholarship players who can contribute.
  • In fact, as a result of the transitions, only six players on the 2022 roster tallied more than 200 offensive or defensive snaps during the 2021 season for Colorado State.
  • The Rams tallied an interception in six consecutive games, matching the first six games of 2009 for the longest streak since 2000.
  • Against Hawaii, the Rams trailed 13-10 going into the 4th quarter before prevailing with a 17-13 win. Colorado State, as a program, had lost 19 consecutive such games (those where the Rams trailed entering the 4th quarter) prior to the win.
  • Similarly, the Rams overcame a 13-3 halftime deficit. It was the first time the program had overcome a double-digit halftime deficit since a 14-point rally against Utah State in 2016.
