Rams Open Regular Season Tuesday Hosting BYU

Colorado State begins the 2022-23 schedule with a White Out against the Cougars starting at 6:00 p.m.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's basketball team will get its 2022-23 schedule underway, starting on Tuesday night when it hosts BYU in the season opener. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., in Moby Arena and fans are encouraged to wear white for the annual White Out game.

Colorado State finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 21-12 overall record, including a 9-9 mark in Mountain West play. The Rams made a run in the conference tournament, advancing through the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds to reach the Championship game. CSU returned to the postseason, appearing in the WNIT and faced Portland State suffering a loss.

Coming Back
The Rams return seven from the 2021-22 roster, including three starters with McKenna Hofschild, Kendyll Kinzer and Petra Farkas. Sydney Mech and Cali Clark also recorded a start a season ago. Hofschild returns for her senior season after leading the Rams and the Mountain West in scoring with 557 points. She also averaged 16.9 points per game and dished out 6.5 assists per game – No. 2 and No. 1 in the league, respectively.

Colorado State welcomed five transfers and four freshmen to the team during the offseason, bringing its newcomers total to nine. Transfers include Kiya Dorroh (Mizzou), Destiny Thurman (UTEP), Joseana Vaz (Casper College), Cailyn Crocker (Cal) and Meghan Boyd (Denver).

BYU posted a 26-4 over mark and 15-1 in the WCC last season. The Cougars stuffer a loss in the West Coast Tournament, but still received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, suffering a first-round loss to Villanova.

Series History
The two teams have had their fair share of facing each other, as CSU trials 24-53 in the series that started in 1975. The Rams and Cougars played each other regularly throughout the series – multiple times a season up until 2011. Since then, the two have seen each other just four times. CSU also trails the series at home, 16-18, but has won the last two in Moby coming in 2015 and 2017.
