Opening Tip
- Colorado State continued its winning ways at home with an 87-71 victory over Loyola Marymount.
- The Rams saw the return of senior guard Isaiah Stevens on Wednesday night. He made his season debut after breaking a bone in his foot just before the start of the year. Stevens hit his first two shots of the game on the way to 13 points, four assists, three rebounds in 18 minutes of play.
- John Tonje recorded his second straight 20-point game with 23 points to lead the team. He shot 75.0% from the field including making four 3s and led the team with seven rebounds.
- With the return of Stevens and Tonje pouring in 20 points again, Isaiah Rivera quietly scored a career-high 19 points against the Lions.
- Rivera has reached double figures in every game this season.
- Rivera wasn't the only Ram with career-high points in the game, Jalen Lake had 13 points in the win.
- Five Rams finished the night in double figures scoring in Tonje (23), Rivera (19), Cartier (16), Stevens (13) and Lake (13).
- Colorado State enters Saturday with a nine-game home win streak. CSU is 5-0 inside Moby Arena this year and 40-6 in the past four years.
- The Rams have won 15 straight home non-conference games and 16 straight against unranked non-conference opponents.
- Northern Colorado will have been off a week when they take the court on Saturday last playing on November 27 against fellow Mountain West foe, New Mexico. UNM won that game 98-74.
- The Bears are 3-5 on the season.
- Just 34 miles separate the two schools that will meet for the 107th time on Saturday.

Scouting the Bears
Northern Colorado comes to Fort Collins with a 3-5 record having faced some tough non-conference competition. Third-year head coach Steve Smiley leans heavily on the trio of Daylen Kountz, Matt Johnson II and Dalton Knecht.

They combine to score 46 of the team's 69.5 points per game. Knecht leads the team with 17.4 points per game shooting 51.1% from the field and having made 16 threes already. Kountz adds in 16.0 ppg after ranking in the top 10 in scoring last season. Johnson does a little of everything for the Bears averaging 12.6 points along with 4.0 assists per game.

For the offensive fire power they have with the trio, Northern Colorado has struggled to stop its opponents allowing 81.9 points a game. Every team has scored at least 70 points against them.

UNC was picked to finish second in the Big Sky this season.
