Men’s Basketball Opens Conference Play Wednesday

Colorado State opens Mountain West play at No. 22 New Mexico Wednesday night
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – With the holiday break and non-conference play in the rearview mirror it's on to conference play of Colorado State men's basketball. The Rams open play against undefeated No. 22 New Mexico on Wednesday night inside The Pit at 7 pm on CBS Sports Network.
Opening Tip
- Colorado State was unable to overcome a poor shooting night falling to USC 73-64 in Phoenix.
- CSU shot its second-lowest field goal percentage of the season at 37.7% and lowest 3-point percentage at 18.5% (5-27).
- Patrick Cartier was one of the lone Rams to have a strong shooting night finishing with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting including 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
- Isaiah Stevens tried to do all in his power to help CSU earn the win almost recording a double-double, He finished the game with 15 points and nine assists along with a season-high four steals.

Second year New Mexico coach Richard Pitino has his team undefeated at 12-0 entering Wednesday's Mountain West Opener.
Rebounding and getting the ball out in transition have been a key to the success with UNM who rank 19th in the nation with 40.75 rebounds per game and seventh with 18.17 fast break points. The Lobos are second in the Mountain West and 12th in the nation scoring 84.5 points per game.
Three New Mexico players are scoring over 16 points a game in Udeze Morris (17.5), Jamal Mashburn Jr (16.8) and Jaelen House (16.4).
