Rams Round Out Day One of UCCS Invite and Multi

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With only eight Rams traveling to the UCCS Colorado Running Co. Pre-Holiday Invitational and Multi, the Colorado State track and field team competed well in its first multi meet of the season.

Placing first place in the women's pentathlon, fifth-year athlete Lexie Keller picked up right where she left off last season as the reigning Mountain West Champion in the outdoor heptathlon. Keller ended the event with a score of 4137, setting a new career best in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet and 11.75 inches.

Finishing 12^th out of 20 total athletes in the pentathlon and competing in her first collegiate multi event was freshman Tatum Bailey who had her best performance in the high jump, clearing 5 feet and 3.75 inches.

Colorado State had five athletes competing in the heptathlon as well, with four events taking place Friday and three more events continuing on Saturday. Current standings for the men include Mauricio Galindo Vega sitting in second with 3018 points, Elijah Scott in third with 2993 points, Drew Thompson in seventh with 2930 points, Mateo Munoz in eleventh with 2720 points and Cameron Collins in twelfth with 2712 points.

Rounding out the day for the Rams was junior Germain Barnes who competed in the 60-meter hurdles after not being able to compete with his fellow sprinters in last weekend's meet. Barnes qualified for the final heat of the event, which will take place tomorrow, as he finished with a time of 8.37 seconds, placing him in fifth place of the preliminary heats.
