Keller’s Performance Highlights Colorado State’s Friday Action
USAFA, Colo. // ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Putting on a show in her hometown of Albuquerque, senior Lexie Keller put together the best women's pentathlon in Colorado State history Friday evening at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
Â
Keller, of nearby La Cueva High School, scored 4,105 points to pass the previous CSU record of 4,084 points set by Katie Lloyd in 2007. Within the five events, Keller notched personal best marks in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump and 800m. In the 60mH, she broke out of a tie for 12th all-time to occupy the spot by herself with a time of 8.66. The pentathlon score was an improvement of 159 points from her previous best, which stood second all-time and was obtained earlier this season.
Â
The school record marks the fifth in the past two weeks for the Colorado State track and field program, joining both gender 400m marks and 4x400m relay times. Keller's mark also checked in at No. 5 all-time for the Mountain West. On the NCAA Indoor Performance List, Keller ranks ninth and the top 16 get a ticket to NCAA Indoors.
Â
Jordan Lanning concluded the pentathlon in fourth place, while the men's heptathlon will continue Saturday. The lone non-multi, Mariano Kis, finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 62'1.75'' – his second-best throw of the season. The live results found on csura.ms/3La3HPm.
Â
The other contingent of Rams were competing at the Invitational at the Peak event inside the Cadet Field House, hosted by Air Force. Four veteran Rams notched season-best performances in addition to five events wins.
Â
In the women's pole vault, Celyn Stermer reached a PR of 13'2.25'', improving her No. 2 all-time school mark and had attempts at the school record in her final jumps.
Â
Gabi McDonald won her fifth shot put of the season, while newcomer Michaela Hawkins finished runner-up where she also finished in the weight throw for a PR. Morgan Stewart threw a season-best weight throw of 53'7'' for third behind Hawkins in the weight.
Â
On the men's side, Allam Bushara and Isa Bynum measured their best triple jumps of the season. Bushara's 51'3.75'' ranks 33rd in the NCAA. Andrew Doctor, competing for the first time this year, won the 60mH.

On Lexie Keller's day…
"Since last outdoor conference meet, Lexie has upped her game tremendously. She has really bought into training like an elite student-athlete. Right now, she is dialed in and focused more than I've ever seen her. The thing is though, she still has a lot left in the tank to improve, which is exciting. Today was a great meet for her, but also just the beginning of what is already a great season. I'm very proud of her and her poise she is displaying."
