CSU Falls To Michigan In NCAA South Region First Round

The Rams couldn't overcome a second-half surge from the Wolverines in their first appearance in the tournament since 2013
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 6 seed Colorado State could not withstand a second half charge and fell to No. 11 seed Michigan, 76-63 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament's South Region Thursday afternoon in Indianapolis. With the loss, the Rams ended their season at 25-6, while the Wolverines advanced and are 18-14 on the year.
The Rams led from the start, knocking down four of their first six attempts from the three-point arc, and eventually built a 15-point lead at 28-13 with 5:09 remaining. Michigan came back with a late close, including a 7-0 run, to make it a seven-point lead for the Rams at the interamission, 36-29.
CSU could not find its offensive rhythm in the second half and eventually went down 45-44 on a Caleb Houstan jumper with just under 13 minutes to play. While CSU went back in front briefly, Michigan went on an 8-0 run over 1:16 to take a 53-49 lead it would never relinquish.
Colorado State finished the game at 35.4 percent (23-of-65) from the floor, including just 34.3 percent (12-of-35) from the arc, but just 8-of-29 after starting 4-of-6. Michigan was 54.2 percent from the field (26-of-48) and 28.6 percent (4-of-14) from the 3-point line. The Wolverines led the rebounds, 36-25, and held a 19-5 advantage in free throws.
CSU was led by junior Dischon Thomas with 15 points on five 3-pointers, while junior forward David Roddy had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Kendle Moore was the other Ram in double figures with 10 points. Michigan had four players in double figures, led by Hunter Dickinson with 21.

• The Wolverines were able to limit the Rams' offensive to just 29.0 percent (9-of-31) from the field in the final 20 minutes, while shooting 60.0 percent (15-of-25) and leading the boards, 21-11.
NOTES
• Michigan now leads the overall series 3-1, as this was the first neutral site meeting between the two teams.
• The 25-6 record is the third most wins in program history and the highest winning percentage (.806) ever for a Ram team that played at least three games.
• The Rams set school records for threes made and attempted in a NCAA Tournament game.
• CSU is now 4-12 in NCAA Tournament games overall in 11 appearances.
• Roddy finished the season with 595 points, the third most in CSU history.
