Junior picks up three wins on the week

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Playing well over the course of a difficult week, junior Radka Buzkova helped Colorado State's women's tennis pick up a major victory, helping her earn Mountain West Player of the Week honors.

Buzkova is the first Ram to pick up the distinction since Emma Corwin on Feb. 28, 2018.

The Rams started the week by beating Colorado 4-2, the first win over the Buffs in program history. Buzkova teamed with Matea Mihaljevic to win at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, then produced the clinching point in the team win with her 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 1, leading her teammates to mob her on the court.

Over the weekend, CSU faced a pair of ranked teams on the road, falling to No. 17 Loyola Marymount and No. 67 Cal State Fullerton. Playing at the No. 1 spot in all of her matches, she picked up a singles win at CSF in straight sets, and she had two matches in progress (one she was winning) when team points were clinched.

Buzkova is currently 17-4 in singles play this year, having won eight consecutive decisions, and she's undefeated in the dual season (7-0). At doubles, she and Mihaljevic are 20-4 on the year.

Colorado State begins Mountain West play this weekend when the Rams head back to California to face San Jose State (Saturday, 10 a.m.) and Fresno State (Sunday, 12 p.m.) at Fresno State.
