Par Four On The Clover Cup:
  • This will be the second time that CSU has played in the event, as the Rams made their debut in last year's tournament and finished eighth.
  • Of the 17 programs competing, 12 had participants as either a team or individual in the 2021 NCAA Regionals (nine teams, three schools with individuals), with two teams that advanced to the NCAA Championships.
  • In the field, 15 teams are ranked in the top 125 nationally according to Golfstat, with seven in the top 50, including No. 17 LSU, No. 20 Texas A&M, No. 29 TCU, No. 30 Georgia, No. 40 North Carolina, No. 42 Clemson and No. 48 East Tennessee State.

Last Time Out: On a much more challenging weather day for the entire field, Colorado State slipped one spot and finished 11th at The Show at Spanish Trail, Feb. 14-15. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by UNLV, was played at Spanish Trail Country Club (Par 72 – 6,402 yards) in Las Vegas, Nev.
With the wind constantly at 15-25 miles per hour and gusting as high as 40, the scores across the board were up significantly with all team scores in the 300s for the final 18 holes. Colorado State finished with a 30-over 318 in the last round and a 54-hole total of 44-over 908 for the event. Host No. 44 UNLV took home the team title with a final round low score of 13-over 301 to finish at 4-under 860, 13 shots ahead of runner-up Nevada at 9-over 873. August was third at 17-over 881, while No. 43 Furman (24-over 888) and No. 42 Washington (25-over 889) rounded out the top five.
"We did a great job today battling in the tough conditions," head coach Laura Cilek said. "Unfortunately, our last three holes we gave back too many shots to take advantage of our play early on in the day. We have some good things to work on before we tee it up again in Arizona in a couple weeks."
Junior Andrea Bergsdottir posted her third top-20 of the season and seventh of her career with a tie for 13th at 5-over 221.  Junior Gabby Minier shot the team's best round of the day with a 2-over 74 and tied for 35th at 10-over 226. Freshman Lacey Uchida tied for 47th at 13-over 229, while sophomore Sofia Torres was at 20-over 236, tied for 71st. Freshman Pemika Arphamongkol completed CSU's effort in 78th at 23-over 239. Nevada's Leah John took home medalist honors at 4-under 212, two shots better than Kendall Todd of UNLV.

More On the Spring Opener: There were several additional highlights from the spring-opening FAU Paradise Invitational.
The first and third rounds for the Rams are the low for the season and tied for the sixth lowest rounds in program history.
CSU's even-par 54-hole total of 864 is the fourth lowest score ever for the Rams.
Sofia Torres shot a 4-under 214 at the event, which is tied for the  10th best event performance ever.

Season Highlights
The current team average of 296.67 is a current single-season average low and program lowest versus par so far.
Junior Andrea Bergsdottir currently ranks fourth in career scoring average while fellow junior Gabby Minier is ninth on the list.

Fast Five On the 2021-22 Season:
  • This is the seventh tournament for the Rams this season.
  • The Rams have three top-10 and 12 top-25 individual finishes this season, with the 11 top-25s going to five separate players (Panchalika Arphamongkol, Andrea Bergsdottir, Gabby Minier, Sofia Torres and Lacey Uchida).
  • The Rams are the only college team in the country to feature two pairs of sisters on the roster (Panchalika & Pemika Arphamongkol and Thea & Tomine Bjerkelo).
  • Head coach Laura Cilek is in her fourth year as leader of the Rams.
  • CSU returns the top five scorers from last year, but all three freshmen have cracked the lineup at least once each so far this season.
Friendly Honored As All-American Scholar: Freshman Panchalika Arphamongkol was named to the 2020-21 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar team as the association announced its annual honors. The criteria to be named an All-American Scholar includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Overall, 1,432 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the prestigious All-American Scholar honor including a combined 38 from the Mountain West.

On the World Stage: Two Rams on the current roster are ranked among the top 1200 players in the current World Amateur Golf Rankings, as of February 5. The rankings are based on their average performance in selected counting events over the past two calendar years.
